| Long days have passed.. and many of the questions about the gruesome crime at the orphanage remain unanswered or uncertain with rumors and accusations.
Having mentioned the option to a few trusted friends the harmless old man can one day be seen walking around and over the burnt rubble, his hands as usually folded neatly on his back. Something is different though - his features are not the calm and relaxed expression they usually are - but a deeply concerned and focused mask. Here and there he stops in his moves...holding still..listening to something unheard.
Between burnt support-beams and scorched furniture - near one of the barely recognizable childrens beds he sits down, legs folding and hands resting on the ground, absorbing the nature of the place.. of all that has happened...of the very souls that died in this place all-too-early in their lifes.
His eyes close and a faint, otherworldly aura rises..first around him..then spreading back step by step all the way his feet touched in the ruin..and eventually engulfing the whole former orphanage as a nimbus of ghostly fog. Without opening his eyes the old man speaks - calm, focussed, but very serious.
I am Liam, spirit of the Lion. I address the spirits of this place..those who found death before time. Take me back in time.. take me to the night of this fire.. Show me what was not seen by living eyes, so you may find peace and rest at last.
((since this takes place over hours publicly at the orphanage, anyone with a reason and chance to be present is welcome to respond))

| Knowing of his plan, Karovir would look for him now and then while the hours pass. Except watching and checking if everything seems to be alright he doesn't do much not knowing how else he might be of help. | |

| During the breaks from his temple duties, Elijah would observe the old man who called himself Zulon at work. Recalling his conversation with the herbalist some nights back, the monk now gazed upon the enveloping aura clearly quite impressed. Despite the strange allure of the scene unfolding before him, Elijah' steely eyes could also be seen scanning the surroundings methodically. Too many incidents have caught us by surprise lately. We will not take any chances now. | |

((since this takes place over hours publicly at the orphanage, anyone with a reason and chance to be present is welcome to respond)) As the otherwordly aura stretches across the burned out husk of the Orphanage; those gathered fail to notice any change. Nearly an hour passes, and still Liam stands, eyes closed and waiting for an answer. Then suddenly, Liam begins to hear the slightest sound of a childs laughter. As the veil of the present is lifted; he is offered a vision of the recent past. He begins to see the world through the eyes of a small child. Once again Liam experiences the joy of youth. He watches the child play, enjoying the thrill of tag; watching the stern Knights of Lathander patrol along the riverside... The vision gives him some manner of peace; though reminds him of what was lost.
Then suddenly, as the children return for their evening meal... the vision turns into something out of a nightmare. Four individuals appear inside the doorway. A Half-Orc, a human male, and two females of indiscernible race, all wearing the armor of the Zhentarim. One of the women carrols the children into a classroom; while the rest begin tearing through the Orphanage. Though Liam is unable to see -exactly- what occurs, he is able to hear one of the women screaming orders followed by the sound of floorboards being ripped from the ground. Eventually a man enters the room Liam finds himself experiencing the vision in, with a few words to the other female; he witnesses a cruel and barbarian act. The woman unsheathes two scimitars, making quick work of the School-marm and several of the children...
Liam's last sight would be that of the man unleashing two balls of fire upon the interior of the orphanage. And then.... darkness.

| The old man remains still for a long moment after the visions end - maintaining his link to the lingering spirits to allow them passage from the place of their deaths through his magic.
When there are no more to aid he takes some of the charcoaled wood and draws sketches of the four he saw as good as he can, adding written descriptions to each of build, gear and abilities where he saw them.
He also writes down a very detailed report of the events and their order in time. When he is done he passes the notes on to Karovir silently and walks back into the rubble straight to the place where the floor was ripped open. Not to seek what might have been taken...but to divine if anything has been planted.
((Zulons report is full disclosure of what he saw. If the Defenders trust him about it, the whole knowledge of the vision is established information for them from here on))

| Karovir would take the notes with a thankful not. He would ask Zulon if he is alright or need any help since the procedure must have been exhausting. Else he would ask him for a detailed report and would start studying the notes. | |
