Decrepit Farmhouse renovation

*The old farmhouse between the goblin barn, ant warren, and old skull cave has lived it's final days. It's roof caved in and walls deteriorating, a strong breeze might knock it down. Fortunately, the Zhentarim have brought several large slaves to do the job. A handful of ogre and other strong slaves get to work disassembling the house; neatly piling and sorting salvaged materials according to a Zhentilar overseer's orders. It is unclear if the slaves ever get a break, as the salvaging never ceases, but the overseer is rotated every four hours. What could they be up to?*

Sabel Chandler of the Black Hounds passes and watches for a bit, finding the methodical destruction just slightly more amusing that watching buildings being built, yet still less exciting than watching grass grow. She is heard to mutter, but not so loud as to be heard by the overseer, "Where's an exploding gnome when you need one?"

*The slaves grumble quietly but continuing on with their work, following the orders of the overseer, they even constructs small barricades to keep bypassers away from the old farmhouse*

Danny, on one of his occasional walks along the farms, stops and peers curiously. He does not approach them, rather he stays in the distance, but close enough to hear normal speech.

When Watchful Brother Rhaevaern gets tired of guarding the well (the most secure well in the Dales by now), he takes a walk out to watch the activity around the farmhouse.

While there, he'll keep an eye on the slaves' work, threatening them with lashes if they appear to slow down.

Sierra Powell comes across the house on her way to the ant tunnels and sees the slaves at work. She sees Danny watching and stands beside him, smiling.

"Just when I thought things were getting boring around here..." She says sarcastically, then laughs.

A woman cowled in a faded brown hood passed along the road, heading north with her silver gaze partially averted from the patrolling Zhentarim. As she neared the path leading towards the goblin and ant warrens, she caught sight of the slaves working to take apart the old building, salvaging parts for future purposes.

Her eyes slitted as she peered towards the mass of slaves. It piqued her curiosity as to the reasoning behind such determination to break down the building, yet enough disgust to avoid inquiring about the sight with any patrolmen or onlookers. She would simply have to return another day to see the progress.

Thus she departed, adjusting her hood as she went on her way.

Danny greets Sierra with a welcoming smile.
"At least it's a peaceful sight," he says, grinning. "I mean, when was the last time you saw something peaceful in our dear Shadowdale?"
He gives a hearty laugh and continues to watch with a curious expression - and a smile now that Sierra is beside him.

The Dark Doom makes her morning rounds. She looks to those at the decrepit house and watches for a moment or two. Then looking to those standing around with a cold as ice stare. She than makes her way back to the center of town.

Swordhand Bainyrr Dragonfire wraps his cloak about his form as a chill wind picks up, wiping through the slaves like icicles. The slaves mutter and grumble, slowing their work.

"The longer you take, the longer it will be to get to the fire." The Swordhand mentioned.

The slaves then picked up their pace to finish their expected days work, wanting nothing more to huddle near the fire on this day of freezing wind.

*slowly the pile's of salvage and still usuable material grows while the slaves continue with their work. When Watchful Brother Rhaevaern approaches the slaves work quicker then before fearing to get lashed again.... as soon as they spot the Dark Doom they let their tools fall and kneel down, pressing their forheads on the ground till she makes her way back to town.
So the days passes by and the wind becomes even more icy, one of the slaves stares at Swordhand Dragonfire, his eyes ful enviousness, as the swordhand wraps his warm cloak about his form and with a deep and almost desperate sigh he turns and works even harder..hoping to get warm*

*The salvaging of the farmhouse almost complete, the work spreads to the abandoned house above the ant warren. As this house is not so decayed, the piles of salvaged materials grow with renewed speed*

*just two slaves remain at the farmhouse doing the last bit of work and sorting out materials the others slave turn to the abandoned house, securing it inside and closing the traped door entierly then continuing on with tearing it apart*

Swordhand Dacre overseeing the deconstruction making sure no one intefers.

*Sergeant Bernson makes a stop during Swordhand Dacre's shift for inspection. He takes note of some injured slaves and asks the Swordhand to see to them*

*the slaves continue on with their work starting in the early morning and keep going till nighfall..two times each day they recieve some food and water from the overseer..they devour it quickly..hungrily...but its quite obvious its not enough for the hard job they do and so after some days two of the slaves break down..more dead then alive ..nevertheless..slowly the house gets disassembled*

Sarla arrives later, while the slaves still work, with a fresh goblin slave in tow. She is armored head to toe in her full black, Templar gear. At her side hangs her sword, while a whip dangles from her hand. She gives it a thoughtful twirl, and sets her goblin to work before approaching Bernson. She offers a salute, then stands in silence.

*Mary return's Sarla's salute, some healing kits in hand. He explains it is now his shift as overseer. When he arrives at the salvage site, he examines the slaves, pondering, then calls to the swordhand he is relieving*

"Swordhand, slaves have to eat. We should work an extra half ration so that they do not simply expire before the job is done."

*As the slaves are unskilled and demoralized, mistakes are made, and Mary is quick to wrap a bandage and force the slaves back to work in haste. The majority of his time is spent approximating the contents of the large piles of materials, and examining the house, all while stroking his mustache*

Sarla speaks softly, her voice calm, but cold as ice. "If they expire, arrangements can be made for them to rise and continue working." She walks with Bernson, then holds the whip out for him to take.

*He defers the whip, as he has his own, granted by former Commander Chambers. The shift for Mary was a quick one, without event. He was visited by an elf woman and a fearsome Templar, and then he marched off for his dinner, as the relieving party came*

Audrey walks up to hear Sarla's last comment and looks her over a moment before speaking calmly, "Templar, the Dread Lord's power should not be wasted to raise such pitiful souls and I will not have the commoners witnessing undead minions working among them. We can spare added rations to keep the slaves fed." She then moves along the slaves and workers, even adding her own strength to help the work along, thinking her assistance will help motivate them to work harder.

Sarla instantly spins and bows to Audrey, fist to chest, when she hears her speak. She hooks the whip back to her belt and nods. "As you command, Trusted Servant." With that, she turns and watches the slaves work, before wandering off to conduct patrols and check on the farmers from house to house.

Starts to do some of the heavy lifting around the site, working with the other slaves. Silently taking measure of what he needs to do, never saying a word unless spoken too.

A Orc dressed in blue walks by and asks if he can help create a well nearby that the slaves could drink from. He also esquires as to what it is the slaves actually eat.
