| An odd rumor spreads about, it seem there have been tracks, signs of passage and whispered rumors of dark elves in the northern dales. No one has disappeared, no bodies have been found, and yet those who live in the shady places, black markets and blighted wilds persist in the rumor that the dark elves move about
What could this mean? And how will others react?This Thread is Linked to Another - please keep the factions actions separated without meta-gaming please [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Shadowdale [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Underdark

| Two men came down from the second floor of the Bastard Sword Inn and noticed something strange. Just as they approached the bar, a masked individual was seen heading toward the door. When one of the two men approached the smaller masked person and attempted to question him...
"Who are you?"
"Vendui, I am no one of importance"
"Why are you here?"
"I am just someone who has just finished paying my bar tab, and am leaving now that my business is done"
With that the stranger passed through the doorway, stepping into the shadow of the door it's self to disappear.
The two men followed the visitor out and onto the street, were signs of it's passage were quickly lost on the cobblestones. Not giving up, the continued their search, and as luck would have it, noticed a slight sign of passage in the dirt near the common campfire.
Though the signs were obfuscated, they eventually surmised that this masked visitor had been in the red-light district and was maybe searching for something there

| *A woman in green would notice the men searching, playing with a silver bell she wore, wondering what they were doing. She would come up to them and offer them same pasteries and breads she peddles and ask them what they were searching for.* | |

| ((with Elizabeta living inFreehaven she visits the Bastards Sword quite a bit so she would see this individual))
[] Interesting, I will keep an eye out for anything odd. Well odd for Freehaven.
She would go back to drinking her tea.

She would go back to drinking her tea. Elizabeta should speak with her spouse regarding the matter...

| *Having already almost tracked a drow to this very location in the Red Light district... not even a week ago... and then hearing subsequent rumors of more sightings of suspicious folk about and tracks leading into the Red Light district... Crytpo makes a point of staking out the bridge between communal fire and the Red Light district to keep an aye out for more suspicious wanderers at least a few hours a night before heading to bed at the Homunculus.
With keen hearing and a smooth silvery tongue... should any come by, he would cordially greet them and casually ask them about their business in Freehaven.*

| Elektra , seeing. Crypto's concern, decided to see what she might discover. Using her ability to walk invisible for prolonged periods of time , she would move as quietly as she could.., unseen ... Searching the areas that Crypto had mentioned. | |

@Elizabeta - While sipping tea, almost a fortnight later, a well covered elven male comes into the Bastard. He goes up to the bar tender and makes some sort of arrangements. Counting some coins in a bag and only removing a few, he hands the bag of coin over to the smiling bar tender. Then at the bar tender's request, the elf uncovers his face while keeping his hood up to those from behind. A bit of dark brownish green hair falls out of the hood before the elf recovers his face and heads up stairs.
// Elizabeta, could I have spot, listen and a spell craft roll please, plus if you can tell me any of the 24 hour durations spells you might have up as well that would be helpful //
//after rolls // As the male pulled up his hood, you catch a glimpse of dark brown skin
@hasbeengoing - Which character is the women in green? Different characters might notice different things
@Elektra - though there tends to be regular travels coming into Free Haven from the front gate, some fairly open about who they are, others seeking to remain obscured for one reason or another, something does catch your eye.
Three males, heavily wrapped in clocks and masks enter together at night. The come to the gate authority, pay their fees through what appears to be a single leader, and enter the city with little or no additional equipment or trade items. All three of the men are of slight build, they could be wild elves or drow, but without seeing their skin or eyes, it is difficult to determine.
Once they are in the city, they split apart going in three different directions...
// spot, listen and spell craft rolls if you would please, Elektra, plus what other 24 hour spells/incantations you keep running would be helpful //
//After receiving requested rolls//
One thing you do notice about the heavily covered up travelers is about their cloaks. At first glance, one might think they are fairly common items good for protection from both rain waters and blowing sands, but looking with an adventure's eye, you would notice that they are in fact of extremely high quality and would be suitable for enchantment, if they are already not enchanted. Also, they are not made of wool or leather.
@Crypto -
Oh your way back to the Bastard having wiped the red-light district lipstick off your neck (their overnight charges are truly ridiculous), the bar tender calls for your attention. After your extended interest in looking for the mysterious guest from almost a fortnight ago he couldn't help but see an opportunity for a bit more coin in his purse.
Smiling at you, and leaving his open hand on the bar, he tells you that he just might have seen something that would be of worth to you.
