Farmers and Citizens gather

A group of farmers and citizens have gathered near the House of Plenty. Glamerie would be there to watch her temple being repaired. The farmers and citizens are speaking in hushed tones. She would look to them and ask what is on their minds.

High Harvest Mistress, with the liberating of Shadowdale and our homes...we wish to ask you..well...We wish you to be the new leader of our town. You have been here for us when we needed you. You have been here through everything. You even suffered for us and you know all of us and we know you. We know you will be a fair and understanding leader.

She would look to them with a sweet smile and a surprised look to her face, she puts a hand up to her heart.

Oh my dear friends, you have honored me with such a request. And I would be honored to accept. You all are such wonderful people. I will take up this mantle with your help. I will be a fair and understanding leader. I thank you all so much. And yes you are all my dear friends. It would be best to inform those that are temporarily in charge that a new leader has been chosen by the citizens and farmers.

As more and more citizans gather to rebuild the Church and the Harvestmistress is named leader Valtore calls for a break. He asks them to gather so he can address the;

Greetins all, ye are doin a great job and takin an important first step ta returnin this town ta what it was. Me Clan will help as long as ye wish it, and will leave the decision makin ta ye all. With that said we need ta know what ye want with tha walls. I understand tha view was better without them, but with tha orc attacks, undead armies, demon hoards, tha threat of returning zhents or marauding drow I believe tha walls might be a good thin. Now we can build em all round tha farmlands, but ye would need an army just ta patrol em. Plus tha river complicates it. Then ye would be buildin a walled city with kobolds, goblins, and a passage ta the underrating in it. As me Grandma used ta say 'if ye build a house on a bee's nest expect ta get stun.' Me suggestion is ta build tha walls round Shadowdale proper or central. A smaller area is easier ta defend. Those outside tha walls will be able ta expand tha farms as needed. And when trouble comes knockin ye can retreat inta tha walls. But those outside will be a bit more at risk of course. So as this be yur town this be yur decision. We are here ta help but me cousins and I have homes and families ta return ta."

After the speech he would talk over options the npcs ask and give advice, but wait for them to decide where the wall gets built.:

Arjay would wait for a moment when Glamerie wasn't overwhelmed by various people before he made his presence known. He seemed glad to see her in much better health and spirits than when he'd last seen her escorting her to Myth Drannor after her arrest in Shadowdale.

He presented the Dales Compact that the Coronal had given to him for the purpose, and presented it to her. "The Lady Coronal hopes that now that Shadowdale is once more under legitimate rule, the ancient compact of friendship between the Dales and Myth Drannor can be renewed."

He would hand her the compact, adding, "She regrets that more aid cannot be assured, but the enemies of Myth Drannor have pressed their attack of late. Nevertheless, the forces that aided against the Zhentarim will remain to cover the village from the woods to help ensure that the Zhentarim do not come to reclaim what's so recently been freed from their hands. She has also assured me that she will put out a call for volunteers to offer what aid can be given in the rebuilding."

He would then make himself available at Glamerie's leisure to return the compact and/or a message to the Coronal.

*Taeron seeks out Glamerie, since several pressing matters require her decisions*

Miss, I have taken steps to assure the security of the town. Our troops are not numerous, but they will be well trained.

However, a question of order within the limits of Shadowdale has been raised. Would you like my men to help maintain order, or can you form a group of villagers up to the task?
Perhaps the two groups can somehow cooperate...

The thing is - if trouble breaks out and we deal with it, we may be seen as tyrants. So far, the militia, the defenders or the construction workers have not excercised any authority over the people of Shadowdale and I believe it should stay that way.
So I will need your advice on this - how do we proceed in case a streetfight breaks out, or someone accuses another of thievery?

The militia and the defenders should probably focus on patrols around the town, and perhaps minimise their presence in the town itself, given the situation...

Glamerie would smile to the Master Dwarf. Oh Mr. Valtore you all are doing a wonderful job and we, the towns folk do appreciate everything you have done and are continuing to do. We do understand you have families as well and would understand your want to go home. We would be proud to have a wall built by your kinsmen.

Oh thank you so much Sir Arjay. Please tell the Coronal she has my undying gratitude for all she has done. And yes the compact should be renewed. Without the help from the elves, dwarves, rebels...and many others this She would spread her hands out to all of Shadowdale. would not be possible. I do hope that I can meet with her someday. I have heard many good things and know she is a good and kind ruler.

She would look way up to the man that stands before her. My aren't you a tall one! She would let out a small giggle. What your men are doing is providing our townsfolk a chance to get back to their homes and their families. You can't know the gratitude we have for all everyone has done for us. You all don't seem like tyrants, these people have been under a tyrant for many many years and don't easily trust. I'm sure you can understand that. Once they realize you all are not here to take over or oppress them they will be over joyed with having you folks here. I know what kind of people you all are. You all saved children...their children. Their wives...you saved them. I am in talks with the townsfolk to get everything in order. It will take a few days...maybe weeks to get things settled. But we do want you all here. She would smile warmly.

She would take the list and look over it as he talks to her. Oh that is a relief that there are mages that are willing to help us. We are but simple farm folk and most of them are afraid of mages. I will speak to them and let them know that these are mages not devils or demons. And I would appreciate knowing about these golem things. Not sure if we will want them back...but that would be something the townsfolk would need to decide on. She would listen to everything he has to say.

*Taeron shifts - a bit nervously, but he doesn't leave*

Thank you for the kind words, miss. And please don't take this the wrong way, but I am not a man built for the civilized pleasantries. There's work to be done in town and I can't do it properly without your answer.

How should the men under my command proceed, should they see trouble within the city walls? Should they interfere at all? Or are they meant only to protect the outer borders of the city and are treated as civilians within city walls?
I do not want the people of Shadowdale to think of them as bullies, but in a time like this, order must be maintained, otherwise all the attempts at reconstruction - physical and moral will be lost. I have already seen a necromancer within the walls and I heard a man was beaten in plain sight of the townsfolk. My men had no idea how to react.

If you don't want the militia and the soldiers to do it, you should organize a group to make sure the law is upheld. It would save us a lot of trouble in the near future.

She would nod at his words. I think what your doing is wonderful. If there is trouble inside of town..we wouldn't know how to take care of it so yes I would like your men to deal with such unpleasantries. If such people come inside the town again I give you permission to act accordingly. We don't have a jail yet but I do know we will probably be needing one. If someone comes into town and causes trouble please do take care of it. These townsfolk wouldn't know the first thing about taking care of such terrible people. I'm sure we can come up with a plan for your men. You and I would have to sit down and hash this out and you can give me some insight on what would be good and what shouldn't be done.

Alright. I will inform my men and create some sort of an identification insignia so that people can't pretend to be members of the Shadowdale defenders.
And I will also need a set of the current rules of Shadowdale, to make sure they are upheld and that we don't break them.

*Taeron would bow awkwardly, his height would make it even more funny. He'd then head out, but stop mid way through the door*

Miss, one more thing... I know you have a busy schedule so I'll make it quick.

We are a temporary force. I am a temporary commander. The town will need to find one from their own ranks to do my job sooner or later.
I can start evaluating the men under my command and create a list of suitable candidates, or you can suggest a candidate of your own, when the time comes. But we need to keep that in mind.

*Taeron bows again. Still awkwardly. Then leaves the temple and heads off after his duties*

She would nod. The only rules we have are those that were left by the Zhents. Unfortunately those are quite harsh and some are terrible. I'm sure we can come up with some rules that will be better.

*Valtore goes build wall*

If tha good folk of this village, those who came ta free them from tyranny, and even those who see redemption come tagather ta rebuild tha well it could help heal some wounds. Everyone pitches in and it will get done right quick. Ye could oversee it ta bring tha differant groups tagather. Then when it be done place a plaque on it, sayin how tagether we over came great obstacles and reclaimed yur home." (Something readable IG maybe?)
