A sealed letter addressed to the Elder Rory arrives bearing the waxed stamp of Chauntea and an ink stamp of the House of Plenty

Elder Rory,

I was wondering if there was any word from Freehaven. There is at this moment a Gnome, within my care, who does not know about the Undead, but his kin are from Freehaven. I was hoping that perhaps you heard word of anyone that has left Freehaven, I seek the name "Shortcloak", Martha & Frippi. If there is any information of these two, or any of the Kin name, can you direct them to the House of Plenty please, I fear the poor lad may attempt to find out himself.

A Letter Addressed to Elder Torst would arrive unmarked, no seal or stamp upon it. However, when opened the parchment would give a scent of Wild Flowers, as it had been soaked in fermented water

I was wondering if I could ask something of you, the Farmer, Micheal that recently died. There are few in town including myself, that would like that his farm by set to one side and a trust set up so that when the Boys reach adulthood, that the farm be returned to them. The few that I mention above, have offered coin, for this trust. If you could agree to this, I will be in the House of Plenty. If I am not in the Main Chamber, Please ask a Field Guardian to allow you into the back, there should be no problem there.

I bid thee fair tidings. I would like to request a meeting with the Elder(s) whom might have purview over the defenses (Wall included) and militia of Shadowdale. I bring years' of knowledge and experience in siegecraft as a former Battery Commander in the Suzailan Garrison of the Cormyrean Purple Dragons, and would like to meet over the matter of the potential second siege of Shadowdale. I wish to firstly apologize for last nights transgressions. Many an outburst was uncalled for, so again I would apologize. Now to business.

As per your request to Sister Anna, I spoke with Elder Lhanir, and the Circles aid in defending Shadowdale. I cannot say for certain, that what I am about to divulge will turn your stomach, but on some level I too agree with her, her stance on the matter of the Undead Invasion is somewhat troubling. It is her view, which I too share, that all armies within the Dales must stand united against this common threat. Were Shadowdale and Myth Drannor are concerned, I trust that they will side by each other, as too with the Ironhouse Dwarves. But her words passing this were that, these fine nations should also stand with the House of Redemption and The Zhentarim. Regardless of many peoples outspoken conceptions of this, I know that such a treaty will never come to pass.

Now, Elder, further more the agreement that was to be or had been struck by the Vivard and the Merchants of Shadowdale, was to be a good resource, but as I found out by the opposing faction "The Grey Scale Mercenaries" the Vivard were wiped out by these scoundrels. But onto more distressing news, The Encampment, where many peoples had commonly known to be Shadowdale Wood, was also "The Grey Scale" Camp. It would seem that these thugs and vagabonds, had been dispatched by war, and as they were improperly buried, by what I was informed as a botched job by the Elves, they were not cleansed with Wyrmsage, a Herb used to consecrate the remains of any who have fallen to stop the inevitable reanimation of the Dead, to the Undeathly state, Mindless Undead. It would seem to be in my honest Opinion that these fallen Mercenaries were risen, as I had battled many of them with the aid of Tar-Jo, Sir de Boureguville, Hawk & another. It came to pass that there were two groups in the Woods that Eve, One group to Fox Ridge, and the Other to the Ant Warrens, to which we persuded, After battling out way through these foul'd Risen, we fell upon an Intelligence free thinking Undead, a Vampire. Sadly she still remains at large and her coffin has yet to be located.

Next, I would tell you of the Talonites, I know to well these foul creatures, thankfully having not witnessed the Ekolids; the parasites, as I was within Harper Hill on a meditation exercise. I did, however venture below Shadowdale with the Druid, Artaius, an Elven ranger i assumed, Mr. Wendal, Hawk, a woman I believe to be Loora, and a Sedrin. The Pillars in the cave within the basement of the Old skull Inn, are infact Abyssal runes, to their meaning I do not know as I do not read Abyssal. Having ventured deeper under Shadowdale we found out way to a Summoning Chamber, where the Talonites were opening a Demonic Gate, as was discussed in the Meeting last night. But they were Herzou, natural plague carriers, and several Quaist. It was my understanding that once the Circle was destroyed the portal would collapse but from speak with Lhanir and Ravossell it would seem there was another Circle. What they intend to do, I fully side with your decision

Lastly, I wish to speak about the Salted Land, It is true, that a growth spell, when invoked would help the land grow thick with life, and a Rain spell as suggested by Lhanir would also prove wise, but and I say this with kindness, but removing the upper layer of the land that was salted would remove most of the taint, if you simply wash it away, you also run the risk of burrowing the salt deeper.

Dear Elderly,

You have no doubt met my colleague one Eustace Hobbes, who is currently working to help the town defend itself against our undead threats. I am writing this letter as a beseech to ask for permission to allow a Calkin Kisto, or one of his academy acquaintances, to be permitted to cast a spell of COMMAND UNDEAD in an operation to gather intel on the fatal weaknesses of the leadership of the undead army and their upcoming strategies against our fair city.

He needs written permission for this spell and it is critical to our operation. Questioning undead is generally impossible otherwise. You can have this delivered to me at the Old Skull Inn or to Mister Kristo at the academy, but please be urgent. Time is not on our side.
