| A new troop has been molded in Shadowdale and they can habitually be seen coming in and out of town gathering provisions. Their name is scattering rapidly around the region with good connotations. The Leader, Mensbane, travels in front of the group and can be perceived during all hours of the day barking orders to his companions. He is not rude, nor aggressive, but polite in the way he orders them. After receiving orders the troop often smiles and continues on with the objective. He is a tall and assertive, diplomatic man who often wears a hat with a feather and carries a finely crafted staff.
The assemblage pays attention well and they never dispute, their loyalty is self-evident. From physical surveillance of the folk who call themselves The Company, Trevor Byrne is also seen as a spearhead and equal to Mensbane. The warriors to comprise The Company are widely ranged and everything from Mages to Rogues can be seen among them.
Notes are posted in town asking if any farmer, fellow adventurer, or others need help.
The Notes offering their Services specifically read: All men and women who are suffering from the woes of these dangerous lands worry no more! The Company can solve your problems and bring peace back to your simple lives. We can be found at the Inn here in Shadowdale. Our services include the following: Locksmith, Protection and Wards, Escort Services, and much more. Our fees are low and we are willing to negotiate price.
If one wants to apply; notes can be found at the Inn and outside the Auction house.
They read: Fellow networks and fortune hunters. I am Mensbane spearhead of the group known as The Company. We are a taut group of travelers who aim to make the native lands safer. We only ask for trustworthiness and righteousness within the group. It is a good way to make coin and new friends. In this land of adventure friends are the most imperative asset. Seek me at the Inn if you are interested.

| Cruven spots one of the notes and reads it over before laughing to himself.
"Another little group I gotta run outta the area eh?"
He'd pocket one of the notes and walk off with it.

| Mensbane is informed within moments of the situation. Mensbane begins to look for Cruven to set up a meeting. He asks the Inn keep where he might be found. He had anticipated this since the beginning

| (( Can we get a DM ruling here? Your group is NOT in game 24x7. I've walked by that wagon many times and not seen anyone there. Also, a lot of us RP passing out coins to beggars, and have been doing it a long time. Their loyalties are far from a done deal, and far from a single player's call to arbitrarily make, to his own benefit. Also, no one on the server that I know of except the Militia has enough "men" to watch the board 24x7. If this isn't basic godmodding, I don't know what is. No offense to you, Mensbane. There are no written rules for Forum RP around here, so we have to work it out like this.))

| (( You need to clear using NPCs for information through staff before using them. That said, anything posted in an RP thread should be answerable by anyone else that "could" have been there unless it is specifically mentioned that it is a report of something that happened in game when no one was around. Of course, NPCs could always see or hear ANYTHING whether you think they are there or not. DMs love to use that stuff for mini events, so watch what you post Also, unless a staff member has given you "men", you do not have any besides the PCs in your group.)) Edit: Rules against god modding are the same in game and for forum RP. Unless you have been given permission to make calls for NPCs, you can not do so in either place. | |

| ((Yes that is fine. New here so fill me in on the goings on! Cleophus you are obviously well skilled in all this so go ahead and shoot me a message and try and help me out? Love your character btw! Thanks Arcanum for the info! Never really role played on a forum, so It is hard. This could be godmodding, but not how I meant it, I mostly just wanted a way to Rp With Cruven and was the only way I could think of to do it. Also I changed it, better now? )) Thanks again!

| ((You could easily have been there and heard/seen Cruven. Next time, just go with something like that rather than using NPCs. You could even have one of your members post that they saw him and got word to you about it to explain why you did not just talk with him right then. There are always ways to do things without using NPCs )) | |

| Well technically I did do that to begin with, I listed those other examples because Cleophus jumped in and started accusing. So I listed the various ways. My first post was simply that one of my men had seen him. Yes I had said "Mensbane has eyes and ears everywhere" but that was a role play tactic to bring a certain persona to the character. I never technically said who told Mensbane. I said he had given gold to the NPC's, but NEVER NEVER NEVER said they were the ones who told him. That is an assumption | |

| (((Eyes and ears everywhere was exactly the problem phrase. Specificity is your friend, as it defeats the appearance of all-powerfulness and adds personality without adding faux uberness. I'm out.)) | |

| The innkeeper would instruct Mensbane to either leave a note there at the Old Skull Inn or instruct him to travel east of Shadowdale out to the Hound's fort along the North Ride if he wanted to contact Cruven. | |
