In Search of Adventure Empty
PostSubject: In Search of Adventure   In Search of Adventure EmptySun Nov 17, 2013 10:41 pm

Zarrall, Jin'Cathul, and Rayna Arrived in Myth Drannor on a rainy evening. They slowly made their way up towards the library near the market place while taking in the sights of the Elvish community. When they found the library they set out trying to locate some old history books, ancient descriptions of previous wars, old records of the influences of magic through out the area, old cartography records, merchant records, religious histories, and anything else they could think of in hopes of finding some kind of record or ancient tombs, keeps, or ruins they may have been forgotten from time during the many wars that have plagued the area. Anything they could find that might point them towards a forgotten adventure waiting to happen.

Zarrall kindly questions the librarians for the name and locations of any accomplished historian or record keeper in hopes of finding more direction to his research.

If approached by an elf confrontationally, Zarrall would simply turn to them put his fingers to his lips and say quietly: "Shhhh it's a library." and go back to reading.

If questioned respectfully, Zarrall would gladly tell them what he was looking for and ask if they knew anything that could help.

blue would walk in and begin talking to the head librarian in a flirting way but nothing serious and look around at the people there eyeing them curiously.. he would walk around as if he owned the place looking over there shoulders trying to get a look at what they were reading.. but say nothing and just keep walking occasionally taking books and replacing them as to not draw attention and move on.. now and then he would flirt with a librarian and pick a piece of fruit from the tree and eat it knowing full well they seen him.. but others may not be so lucky.. he smirks and makes his rounds before ducking into a study room there.. being the prankster he shuts the door and quietly casts a spell and flood the study room with flying rabbits so if opened they would fly out at whoever opened it..

PostSubject: Re: In Search of Adventure   In Search of Adventure EmptyMon Nov 18, 2013 3:00 am

((As I have been informed there would be no way for our little group to enter the city so disregard previous post.))

Upon learning that he would not be able to enter Myth Drannor, Zarrall returned to Shadowdale and inquired about a historian or archaeologist with knowledge of very ancient historical cartography, warfare, magical influences, and trade and would send them a copy of this letter written in steady handwriting:

Dir Sir/Ma'am

I hope this letter finds you well. I write because I am looking to find information regarding changes in the dale area and I have been informed that you would be able to assist me. As I am unable to leave Shadowdale to meet you personally, I am hoping you would be able to send me some copies of maps of how the Dale area may have changed over the last five thousand years or longer if you are able. Also, if it would not be too much trouble, some information as to why the changes occurred.

I do appreciate your time and hope to hear from you soon. Please send any information to the Black Hound Fort attention Zarrall.

Sincerely,

((Signed as nicely as his fat fingers can muster))
Zarrall

Zarrall would send as many copies of this letter to as many people as he thoguht had any information that would benefit him in finding ancient mines, ruins, crypts, tombs, fortresses, keeps etc.

Jin, alternatively, are is not disallowed to go through Mythdrannor and do has decided to go through all the library books he can. Starting with, believe it or not, folklore. He does not ((sorry blue)) use the study rooms, but rather sits in the main library, organizing his finds by region, and then village. Looking for patterns in the stories to create a map of legends to pin point the location of treasures and myths.

Jin looked up at the individual, Not really sure what he was looking at, then smiled. "Sorry I can't be more specfic, but really I'm just looking for parterns in old folk tales and legends. Treasure hunting, so to speak."

he would nod and then ask.. you are aware it is illegal here to raid tombs and graves as well as old battlefields of treasure yes with out permission to do such?

now if a family of old wishes to reclaim some things once lost and has hired you to do such.. you may want to file a report with the council as some things may or may have not been changed in rules or laws we may have.. this would keep you informed of what is nessessary to abide by our laws on such things..

doing so with out authorization from any one is a violation of our laws as well and is punishable accordingly..

so do yourself a favor miss (assuming she is female if not skip the miss part) while you may study and look for what you seek in the books please announce such to the coronal or the council preferably both also speak with the keeper as well..

we are strict on these things as we honor and protect our dead.. they are reveered highly and are worthy of peace.. so please seek to file a report with the coronal council and keeper before setting out..

and also remember treasure hunting isn't all its cracked up to be and in most cases desicrates the burial site and as a consequence stirs up more trouble most often than one can handle sometimes even more than an army can handle..

I would hate to find one ofmy family members grave desicrated and I know others would as well..

Jin blinked at the individual talking to him. "I'm not sure what folklore has to do with battles or burial sites, but I would appreciate it if you would actually listen to what I'm saying instead of just flying off about your laws." He held up a particular book, shoving a particular passage under Blue's nose.

"This is a story about a man given a task to travel somewhere no one knows and fetch something no one can name. It ends up being a sort of djinn by the description. However most stories about djinn come from the other side of the world. So where does this particular story come from and why is it so similar to the djinn stories of Calimshan. Did someone hear the stories and make up their own? Or were there other djinn all the way on the other side of the world that we really don't talk about? Or was it something else? Now you can apologize for the misunderstanding by helping me coordinate some of these stories. Okay? That or just leave me alone so I can work."

he would look oddly at him don't try fooling me I know folklore and stories are based in some fact originaly and overtime it turns to blown out of proportion legend which become myth even later..

I have search the same things looking for clues and disciphering unwritten codes and clues.. sorting thru magical mumbo jumbo.. translating many languages learning many cultures..

so don't sit there and try to pull the wool over my eyes I see you I also know the lure of a good adventure.. and quite simply if you don't wont to hear of our laws and rules then why are you here but to seek to find and desicrate graves for your own gain or personal reward.. *he would seem to be very angry at this time and grow even more so by the second* further more if you don't like it you can get the ********* out of here *he starts spouting curses and the likes in many languages all at once* I am sick of people coming here thinking they can ignore common curtousy thinking they can do whatever when ever and being so rude when I simply trying to guide you appropriately on courses and avenues you should explore.. you know what to hell with it you do what you want and if I catch you I will do what I want... hows that hmmm.. *he starts looking at his staff as he does a librarian walks over and suggests he go cool off in another room they didn't want a repeat of what happened the last time..*

she escorts him far away as she does he mumbles something about disrespectful young morons now days.. he finds it to be a long day of complete idiots and deems this day a day the library should be closed on..

(wether or not they would shut down or not is up to who ever and should the defenders be called he would go with them if they asked before he pops off spells)

Jin waved as the man was escorted away. He gave a small wink and returned to his books, letting out a sigh of relief. Elves were so easy to infuriate. He wondered if he could make a living at it. But then if it really was that easy, everyone would be doing it so their would be no value in his skill. Oh well.

Jin started sorting again, problem averted and now only his eyes on his work, looking for stories of magic daggers and weapons. Perhaps, just maybe, he would find out something about himself in here. Legends, perhaps, of children being taken from their nests and taken far away to be raised by other parents. It was far reaching he knew, but that did not mean it was impossible. And who knew? Somewhere there might be so.e adventure along the way.

He closed the book in his hands, reaching for the study door. Without looking he yanked the door open. Jin scanned tha shelves, resisting the urge to taste the air and went inside.

(( so sad you repealed the rabbits. That would have been so much funnier))

The librarian would send a letter back

"Dear Zarrall,

you have failed to include the reason why you are unable to visit me in Person. You will understand we do not send any original works outside of the City or even the library.

signed
Elvenara Hawksong
Lorekeeper of the Library of Myth Drannor."

that he would help once he regains control.. and find his balance once again.. would return to help them in this task.. to please except his apologies to her an her staff..

"'Where to start." Jin took a deep breath. "My friend and I are trying to gather some information related so some occurrences, kidnapped children and such. One in particular taken from the Shadowdale area. Nineteen, twenty years ago. The last lead I had that brought me here indicated it was part of a more on going thing. Really long time. So a risky possibility occurred to me there might be something in old stories of such children, a way to piece together some clues."
