Return from The Hunt

Lord Blue, Silphie, and Thane Valtore returned from the werewolf tunnels. All looked bruised and battered. However Valtore had a huge tear in his side. Once they were inside the Halls his armor was and a large tooth is removed from his side. After bidding farewell to Blue Silphie helped Valtore to his tower to rest and recover. Soon a sign is put up asking all Kindfolk to gather belladonna.

*Storm would hear quickly of the news and he makes his way to Thane.*

"Oi Thane ye alright? Heard ye got bit by a werewolf so I brought ye some belladonna. Always good to keep one of these around aye?"

*He would hand Thane the belladona plant hoping it would help."

"Aye Lad, we heard it was movin about below and like fools we decided ta put tha beastie down. 'Fraid it was a bit opposed ta tha notion and fought back hard. Thins turned against us and I took tha brunt of tha attacks. Luckily Silphie returned with Blue havin found a way ta regain her magic and we were able ta finally kill tha creature. I wouldn't be here if not fur her and Blue." Valtore starts to munch on the belladonna with a grimace "I am not sure this will work Lad, I need someone ta go ta Shadowdale and talk ta tha Head priest of Selune there. I helped escort 'em ta town so they should remember me, but they are a bit daft. Tell 'em what happened and that we need ta know how ta cure tha disease. Can ye do that Lad?"

Bryanna enters with a rather solemn expression.

"Thane." She moves up and rests a hand on his shoulder, her expression turning very concerned as she simply looks at him questioningly.

Elektra would come to visit Valtore, and upon hearing of his condition, would insist on speaking with him and his caretakers. She would relate briefly her previous involvement with such things in Moonshae, and that she has a possible treatment to help him.

Silphie can be seen around the tower, not ever too far from Valtore. She had become more reclusive since they returned from the hunt.

blue returns a day or so later with a belladonna plant and hands it over to valtore and silphie..

Elektra would come to Valtore and whom ever was caring for him. She would produce a small bag that is tightly tied closed.
"My only question is what effect this might have on dwarves. I believe, from what I know of the general history of mining deep, living inside of mountains and being all around ore, forging metals and such, that this will not harm Valtore."
She opens her pouch, revealing a fine silver powder.
" Mix this with water where clear water turns slightly gray, and have him drink it slowly for as long as it lasts. Not all at once. The silver directly combats the curse , as it clearly damages werewolves, and kills them. As it builds up in side of him, I would expect him to recover, or at least hold this curse at bay until other help can be found."

With Silphie's help Valtore changes his bandages and puts belladonna onto the wound, then chews on some as instructed by Lord Blue. He washes the bitter taste out of his mouth with some silver blessed water. After that he lays back down and gets some rest waiting on Storm's return from the Priest of Selune.

Bryanna tries to stop him from drinking the silver-tainted water. "Thane.. really... would you eat silver and expect to be healthy normally? Don't drink that."

Silphie would be there with Val whenever he needed, helping with his bandages gingerly, staying nearby his bedside.
"I hope the Priestess gets here soon.."

The priestess of Selune takes a few days to arrive from the temple in Shadowdale with Storm. She has been passing the time with Storm, talking about one of her favorite topics. Geology. Yes, Storm endures an avalanche of knowledge that he will most likely never have to use in his life. The priestess is chatty, and unwavering interested in teaching him the smaller rock formations.

"You should get into the hobby, I have a whole collection back at the temple." She says upon entering the iron gates. She then claps her hands together, a friendly smile on her face as she looks over the dwarves and others. She does not bow her head, or send them any formal greeting. The priestess stands tall, waiting for them to bow. A tall and proud representation of the moon goddess. She claps her hands together after the lot has gathered. "So! Where is this Val?"

Valtore would be resting in his Tower which is located well outside the dead magic area that effects most of the Halls.

The priestess wove her way around the keep until she reached Val. Smiling and chatting with the others as she went about her way. That is, until she saw him. Once she set eyes upon Val the smile on her face dropped completely. Her hands moved about the wounds, her words absorbing into grunts and grumbles as she inspected him.

"Hmn."

Her eyes fell to the belladonna and silver-blessed water in the room. Her mouth a tight line, lips locked.

"Good news, or bad news first?"

"Tha bad news yur Grace if ye please. Get it over with." Valtore says with a slight grunt from the prodding he took at her hands. It is very obvious he is not used to being fussed over at all, but remains calm.

The priestess nodded and begun.

"The bad news, is I can't guarantee you will recover. There is a chance you could...lose. To the curse."

The priestess held up her hands in a defensive manner.

"But, all is not lost. There is also a chance you can beat this. I see you have already begun using the belladonna. That is a good start. The...silver-blessed water might not be such a good idea. You really shouldn't drink..." She trailed off, then began anew. "Did you notice anything when you drank the blessed water?"

(((Just for the record, silver has been used medically for thousands of years, and is still considered a useful aid in the treatment of many conditions, and it's consumption is generally considered safe. Most people in a medieval setting would be aware of this; certainly anyone with mundane medical training would be using silver on a somewhat regular basis.

(((Oh, right. I suppose I could see that being reasonable... I guess I interpreted her suggestion as being a sort of primitive chemo-therapy that would target the lycanthropy within him. But obviously this is just an OOC observation that has no bearing on game mechanics, so I'll shut up. )))

Bryanna who has been hovering almost incessantly around Valtore, likely to the point of irritation gives the priestess a hopeful look.

"What can we do to make his odds as good as possible? The Thane is a strong dwarf after all, he just needs the right tools to win this battle."

Valtore nods to the priestess, "Tha water was a bit harsh goin down, like chewin on nettles. Nothin as bitter as tha Belladonna mind ye, but I'd rather have a spot of ale. If we had a priest I would have used good Dwarven Holy water..." Shrugs as Bryanna speaks "Aye tha right tools would help indeed. What little I had time ta find out 'bout this curse hinted at a verity of cures dependin on how long ago I was chewed on. It was a few days ago now. So what do I need ta do, and how's it gonna affect me?"

She wasn't pleased with the answer, and sat in thought for a long while. She then leaned in, and started examining him anew. Working with a grim look on her face.

"Something is off..." She said more to herself. She shook the idea out of her head and answered his questions.

"Depending on how well the belladonna took, you might start to feel the pull of the curse. Mood swings, irrational rage. You might start craving odd things to eat...erm...even for a dwarf. Your hair might start growing excessively..er...even for a dwarf. But...that also means your beard. You might end up with the best beard a dwarf could pray for."


"As for treatment" She continued. "You have started the first portion. And your friends were wise to get you all of it. I want you to start drinking belladonna tea, twice a day. I'll be giving you a moon-blessed elixir to help give it some kick...and" She paused. "No. Drinking. Do not touch a drop until we see improvement." She looks Bryanna in the eye. "I'm serious. Do not let him touch it. After a week, we will see where we stand."

Valtore scratches his chest. "I have a question fur ye. A few years back a livin crystal bonded with me. It has moved up me arm and is in me chest now. Could that be causin somesort of issue?"

Bryanna grins at Valtore and strokes his hair a moment. "He'll not see a drop if I have anything to do with it."
