| idk what it is, but even at the lowest possible graphics settings I'm still having gpu failure at over 70 degrees C. I'm tired of having to do a hard shut down on my PC three or four times a day when I try to play, so I'm just giving up.
I've scoured the internet for fixes. My drivers are up to date, I'm running the client on Directx 9.0c, I have good air flow, my power supply is fine...I'm out of ideas and out of solutions. I don't want to risk destroying my brand new expensive af graphics card so I'm just gonna stop playing. This sucks, and I'm really sorry to everyone who enjoys playing with me, but I can't physically run the game anymore.
Which is stupid because I can run new games on maxed settings without even so much as a hiccup in my fps. Blame the makers of NWN2 for their lack of graphics optimization. | |

| im so f**king pissed off, dude. I've been having this problem ever since I built my new rig. It'll go away for a few days and then come back consistently. i cant put my old one back together to use just for nwn2 because I don't have a hard drive or cpu for it anymore (cpu burned out, which is why i built a new rig, and im using the old HDD for storage on this one). And im not gonna use my old gpu because then i wont be able to play any of the new games that i have. | |

Nothing works. I'm frustrated beyond belief with this, so I'm just calling it quits to save my sanity. | |

Basically the differences from what I used before was
Vertical Sync is now ON
Shadow Quality is LOW
Point Light Shadows is OFF
AA is 2X
The Video Quality Advanced all the shadow quality is MEDIUM and texture filtering is Antistriopic High.
In short, shadows and forced AA are murdering your card through a memory leak in the program and when you tone them down it's murdering your card through a FPS overhaul, hence you VSYNC it to cap your FPS.
This solved my issue, also I dusted the living daylights outta my computer. Hope it helps
oh one last tidbit if you have a QUADCORE+ start the game and go to task manager, Proccess, NWN2.exe Set affinity, DO NOT SET IT TO AFFINITY 0 or 1! Set it to 2 AND 3, quad cores are really a dual channel dual core and just setting it to 0 or 1 like you would with a dual core will bog you down, always choose the 2 HIGHEST numbers so quadcores are affinty 2 and 3, hex cores are 4 and 5, Octocores are 6 and 7, the lowest core numbers run your OS and applications the highest handle the least load letting you dedicate them to your game exclusively, do this everytime you load the game.

| I have heating issues with NWN as well. I found that if Skype is off while I am in game helps for whatever reason. | |

| its not really a heating issue. other games i play push it higher than nwn2 does, and it doesnt fail on me. but for whatever reason, when nwn2 pushes the gpu to 71 it just shuts off after a few more seconds. | |

| I cant get that FPS Limiter to work properly. Its missing the "fsx.exe," whatever that is. | |

Tried this. Everything seems to be running smoothly after a few minutes. will post again after 15-20, as thats usually how long it takes to reach the crash point. | |

| went an hour with no issues. gpu temp stayed in the low 60's, and I didn't crash.
