Commander Vorik
Role: Commander of the guard and militia of Shadowdale
Alignment: LN
Race: Human
Age:32
Diety: Chauntea
History: Born and raised in shadowdale, Vorik has never strayed far from the town, the very furthest he’s traveled in his life being mount krag. He joined the guard when he was 18 under Zhent occupation, and trained under their rule. After serving years as a guard, through the rebellion, and then into the revolution Vorik has watched the town change many times. He was appointed Commander by the Elders, and held fast during their rule as well. Once the Elder’s power collapsed Vorik stepped up to hold the town together until Azalar became the Lord.
Personality: Vorik is a reserved and shy man. He can at times come off as meek, however he has grown more confident in his position. True to the staunch training methodology of the zhents, he is lawful to an extreme and incredibly dedicated. He does not allow his personal opinions to sway him from the law.
Motivations: Endure and protect. Shadowdale is his home and he considers it his duty to keep it safe. He holds the law above all else, and will only uphold order on his jurisdiction. Any work done outside of shadowdale’s gates he considers voluntary and one he has no authority over. He has been known to patrol the crossroads as charity.
Factions/Races/Guilds
Myth: Mixed bag. He considers them abandoning his town in its time of need, yet has not forgotten the refugees the camps took in. He considers them arrogant, bullies, but overall an ally the town can’t afford to lose.
Krag: Vorik holds a personal hatred for the zhents. He refuses to speak of his time as a zhentarium guard. He cautiously understands their power and will not willingly risk getting into a fight with them.
Druids: Fickle, emotional things. Vorik only finds confusion and impatience with them. He does his best to abide by general rules of nature, but they are zealots to him.
Drow: Hates them, will attack on sight. He will tolerate half-drow due to the law allowing them in the town. However he does not like them and makes little effort to hide that fact.
Orc: See above.
Elders: Vorik has a very complicated opinion of the elders. As his leaders he has a great deal of respect for them, and followed their leadership with absolute loyalty. However, he disagreed with much of what they did and is uncomfortable with the conflicts they forced him into.
Special relations with PCs:
Sordoc: His Sargent and one of his most trusted soldiers. He highly regards his opinion and looks to him to tend to most affairs.
Mineva: Shot him with an arrow. He now has a bad shoulder due to her. He considers her a good shot.
Luupi: A private in his militia. He thinks she has much promise and is eyeing her for a promotion
Gruum: A half orc in his ranks. Vorik cannot by law ban him from his barracks, but he also does not like him. He keeps him on a short leash and disciplines him harshly and in public. Vorik is often torn between his disdain for him, and his role as his commander.
