Strange Happenings at Night

There is the small rumor going about the Town of Shadowdale that some people have had issues to sleep as of late, others have been speaking of avoiding sleep at all and choosing to remain awake in fear of what maybe out there in the dark. Whatever these rumors are about, they seem wild and incoherent. There is a particular villager that speaks of having heard chattering noises beneath his bed after sunset, or the dark itself grinning back at him from afar. Yet nothing has been found about these strange happenstances at Night.

What is real is that a few villagers have been restless, and have chosen to skip entire nights of sleep or spend them with family or friends.

The word is out, the strange happenings leaving no rest for a few villages has been caused by what it seems to be demonic sightings, although none have been spotted since then, the few villagers that have been having issues at sleeping have been evacuating their homes for the time being, until the source of such things is dealt with.

Nadia would attempt to corner one of the families when she heard of them packing up, offering to actually help pack.... and if they accepted her help she would chat and help, if they said no thankyou she would stand about and chat.

"So, Id like to point out... your in a town that is somewhat of an adventurers hotspot, with lots of magic and power, you sure moving away from these powerful beacons oh rightiousness and goodness is a wise move? I mean, anything could happen to you and your familiy when heading to your new home.... demon attacks on the road.... bandits attack... drow.... zhents...... lots and lots and lots of things waiting beyound those walls to eat you, enslave you and defile the bodies of your loved one!.... maybe best to stay here, oh and also go and report to guards, you know, describe your nightmares so they have clues about what they are dealing with.. just a thought!"

The people that Nadia 'corners' explain that they are not leaving the town, merely going off to live with their families within the town itself, saying that they are safer that way. Should she continue to persist, Nadia will have to deal with the local militia.

Nadia would back off upon discovering they were not attempting to flee down, she would smile pleasently, wave nicely... and leave them alone to avoid the attention of the Local Militia......

she would also wait until the dead of night the next night and... PM sent

Upon word being out, Vincent would begin increasing patrols around town to attempt to see if anything specific is going on that is strange at night. He'd also attempt to give reassurance that he'll do his best to keep families safe and figure out what is happening.

Vincent finds little out of place during his Night patrols, however, he swears that one of those Nights, he can hear a sweet, appealing song in the air; it almost compels him to look into the matter further. It comes from somewhere to the North, however the song is gone as quickly as it reaches his ears; it must have been his imagination, or was it real? Otherwise little happens on the streets of Shadowdale at night, except some villages going by as the Nocturnal life goes on. Fact is, that some homes have been abandoned.

A notice would a one point appear, around the time as a robed figure was walking around and putting up posters when no one was about or when there was a distraction.Should anyone attempt to get close, the robed figure would attempt to slip away into the crowd or into the nearest shadow or dark allyway in an attempt to hide. the posters the mysterious figure in a robe does manage to post would read the following.

Some of the affected villagers decide to visit the nearby House of Plenty to acquire brews with said blessings, while others decide to continue on spending their time with their extended families. Some Guards would be actively looking for this robed figure, probably to take the individual in for questing.

The Paladin would continue his night patrols, and continuing to reassure any villagers that would pass him during said patrols. Though each time he reached the north, where he heard the appealing song, he would attempt to investigate further of where the song was coming from specifically, or what could be creating it. But as he would investigate, he'd be keeping his guard up the best he could if anything were to emerge.

Cleo adjusts his morning routine. Rather than climb to the top of Old Skull Hill to watch the sunrise and pray, he holds morning vespers at the base of the hill, so that those too elderly or infirm to climb the Hill might attend.

Though he'd certainly make note of anything he'd learn, Cleo makes no attempt to probe into the cause or nature of this phenomenon, focusing his efforts instead on bringing the comfort of the Dawn to those who, like him, have known terror in the night.

Vincent's search brings him to the northern edges of Shadowdale with the Daggerhills, there are certain a lot of caves here, however the song he might have heard at one point has not resounded again since then.

Seeing the various caves but the song not returning he'd sigh slightly in frustration. Though he'd scan the area once more to make sure nothing is out of place. If nothing is, he'd give a small shrug before making his way to the closest cave, keeping a constant scan on his surroundings. ((Has Darkvision from Champion of the Silver Flame))

The cave Vincent randomly picks appears to hold little out of norm; he finds a few animals that may or not become aggressive to his persistent stay, mossy walls lead on about the relatively narrow tunnels that lead to little of interest.

Sargent Sordoc of the militia, returning from a short patrol around the lands west and south of Shadowdale, somewhat cheerfully asks around the farmers trying to see where most of the nightmares seen to occur, inside or outside the walls.

On his rounds, spying the demon hunting poster, He grumbles and shakes his head, "Charlatans...hmmph."

The now archmagister of the crossroad academy, Arran walked along in the night as he was want to do. Being an avid dreamer himself he considers the implications of troubling nightmares, as rumor has it they were going around. Stopping at the hill over looking the ranger camp he sat down pouring over what kinds of things if any could cause an outbreak of bad dreams.

Certainly the nearly unending war that the dales experienced could account for more than its fair share of nightmares, but that would happen all at once. He continued to ponder, eventually the long hours of paperwork caught up with him, falling fast asleep.

Seeing little out of the norm, Vincent would perk a brow and scratch his head. Mumbling softly to himself, he'd slowly start to depart the cave

"What the Helm... Maybe.. I didn't hear anything.."

The Paladin would simply return back to his normal patrols, though he'd certainly be trying to figure out the happenings in his head and keeping a keen eye out for anything out of the ordinary as usual. As well as keeping his ears open for that mysterious and appealing song.
