| Well this makes more sense now. Then our usage of so called drow words in English sentences is really OK and proper way to role play.
But then shouldn't all the drow need to know Undercommon automatically? I mean is there any Common language slot for surface races? I don't know but if there is not then all the drow should be able to speak Undercommon. Also I have Undercommon as a secondry language but never seen any UD race using it. They tend to use their own race's language and when they talk with other races they use English which is the Common of Surface and should be (my point) the Undercommon of the Underdark.
Also the Drow of the Underdark is not an Forgotten Realms exclusive book but I don't know if there is another book that explains Drow language of FR exclusively
And the book says the Drow was not able to create their own language but then how did they managed to create a hand sign language?

| Undercommon is common in our language chooser. There is no translation used between the two in this game. | |

Correct however there are multiple references in the book that are FR specific. Also, yes the only real language the drow have created is their sign language or Drow Sign. But as a true verbal language, they mix/match whatever words they like to present dominance.

| Maybe try a FR specific drow of the underdark.
Click me
Page 95 talks about 2 different type of drow language.
Oh dear.
It is 2nd edition so easy to throw out, but still.

| This really isn't any different then the book Drow of the Underdark 3.5:
Deep Drow ( also known as "low drow" or Drowic") is the everday tongue of the drow, corrupted by passing fashions, trade-tongue jargon, and even words from other langauges(notably orcish, dwarven, surface elven and human wizardly terms)
Deep Drow is a living, changing tongue, and varies from place to place in the Underdark as well as over time.
"Oloth plynn Dos!"

Visitors to drow settlements may also sometimes hear High Drow, an archaic, rarely-used dialect known and heard chiefly by the clergy of Lolth (used in spell incantations, or between priestesses when they dont want lesser drow within hearing to understand their speech). High Drow incorporates some specialized gestures (part of the Silent Language), which drow not familiar with it sometimes call The Secret Signs. Was referring to that. Not a everyday thing everyday drow would speak but still a language.

| Again, noone is forcing anyone to use drow "slang," use it if you want, in a week or two you will be able to understand everything anyone says. If anyone has questions about what a word means, send a tell and the player will gladly tell you what it means. | |
