It has come to usstans attention that lower ranked drow are using the rules of no fighting in the camp to speak ill of House Master Ranked Jabbuks and females. This will stop and it will stop now. As of this moment anyone lower ranked than usstan has permission to kill anyone who insults dos in camp. If dos offend someone who would like their offender punished by the Yath, then dos will wish that you had died then and there because Lolth loves nothing more than the blood of a Drow on her altar.

Signed

Yath'Tallar Gaussafae Zau'Afin

((OOC I don't want to hear of any lower ranked males telling guild masters to basically F off and that they can't do anything to them because of the rules in place about not fighting. That's baloney. You can take your rp out and live or you can continue and I will for one not vote for the person who killed you to have anything happen))

Insults honestly are conscent to PVP, well RP PVP. They are controlling their pc, which means they are more so RP their PC and them thinking they can't get beat down for the insults they stab out with daggers will be a new awakening. I would though send them a tell and also SS it saying that their continued insults are conscent.

I would recommend everyone re-read this post. It's quite thorough.

https://dalelandsbeyond.rpg-board.net/t1993-pvp-rules

I don't understand why people seem to think the 'RP out' is some sort of a get-away free card so you can OOCly avoid IC conflict. It's not.

"Initiating PvP can be considered any of the following:
Bullying, using slander/offensive language, provoking, pick-pocketing or any other action that is similar enough to provide as giving consent for a PvP interaction. If someone might be tempted to take a swing at you for something you did in real life, the same action IC is going to have the same response.

By performing one of these actions towards another player, you have consented yourself as OK with an in-game PvP engagement. What this means is that, if the other person/party decides to engage in PvP, they do not need to give you a way to RP-out of the situation, since you have consented to PvP by initiating it.
If PvP is not your thing, then you should not place yourself in these situations that constitute as grounds for PvP."

So, if you slander a Yath, you're initiating PvP. There's no RP out then and there. They will be eligible to engage PvP with you.

If you get bullied in game, and you ask an OOC stop to it, and the bullying goes on, then you broke a rule yourself. If OOC hatred is brought from character to character, and is the reason for the aforementioned bullying, then you metagamed. If you, with a lvl 1 character with 0 spellcraft and no magic abilities, say that a lvl 5 wizard spells (all of which can crush you anytime) that they are crap, and he is incompetent, you're metagaming again. If you want to cut a character's tongue without sufficient IC reason and without OOC consent, that is godmodding. If you, after an explicit request of RP out, still follow the other player trying to find reasons to kill him, you're breaking the 24 hours rule.

If you need sufficient clarification, I will provide it, publicly, to the staff, or in PM to anyone who wants it. I understand this is an article on a guy who almost got sacrificed yesterday, but these situations happened to me in the past, and I will not tolerate it anymore. Most of all the OOC reasons to attack/harrass characters IC. This is a 18+ server, if people cant separate OOC from IC they should quit.

Happy RP

The Underdark theme is really hard to keep without conflict. I can only advice one thing from my text-based RPing experience, consensual RP.

If any of the participants find a situation very annoying, then let the other know in pms or OOC, and then they shall try to cooperate on a mutual agreement of the outcome of the scene. Perhaps none of the player would be totally satisfied as they might feel they could *gain* more from forcing their character or their own player wishes to the other, but in truth both the sides could gain a lot. A nice RP experience, a story what could be spin further as the other player won't be offended and avoid you.

If someone doesn't like to be bossed around, forced into the Drow etiquette, fine. Just wrap up the situation: for example describing the situation in third-person perspective with less details which could offend the other player, etc.

Please excuse the reprinting of the below warning that every PC gets when they enter the server with a UD race, UD spawning character.

"WARNING! Ruled by Llothite drow, if you don't wish to participate in that sort of RP or don't know what this means, please do not make a UD race!"

I just think folks need to remember what they have already agreed to by making a underdark based character.

Now this is not to justify 00C'ly based harassment, such as a player who is angry/jealous at another player (or group of players) who then rolls up a 1st level female drow cleric so he/she can abuse any and all of the characters of another player that he/she is angered with (such as the situation Aelcar is describing above). That is probably something for the staff to handle as a griefing situation.

Past reading up a bit, the only way you can really figure out how the UD works in Dalelands is to go there. So while I understand the warning, the same rules should apply in the UD that apply on the surface. the only difference being all Draow hate everyone, even each other (lol) so rudeness is to be expected.

TL:DR

What I mean by this is...

Way too much effort was put into these posts.

The simplest solution is... Keep it IC.

No one is saying don't rp your toon. Violent rp is expected in the underdark and if you don't like it, then I agree. Don't play. The problem I saw was players using the camp as a get out of jail free card. Basicly using the camp's no PvP rule to be insulting and down right rude to characters they know are high ranking. When the other toon asks them to step outside into the tunnels they "rp out".

The priest's are a whole different matter. A yath player can destory another toon very easily. I have to give props to the yath toons because it is a hard rp and for the most part many of them do it well. They balance, being nasty witchs with an understanding that everyone just wants to play and have fun. People come to the UD to play the violent, dark rp. If your not quite sure on what is correct then send an occ tell. Most people will be glad to help you out. Like ShadowDale and Myth Drannor there are rules of behavior you need to follow to get along inside of the Camp. If you don't want to follow them, then don't go into camp. And if you do go into camp then get ready for the IC issues that take place there.

Hold on, this is a new to me: who is insulting people in camp, and then goes out and asks for an RP out? And why are these people not just KILLED IN THE CAMP? I killed an insulting toon IN CAMP. Cut him in two, after telling him 5 times that he was a dead jaluk. Dont see no problem. Strange that people feel safe in camp...it is anything BUT safe!

Yeah I agree with the importance of hierarchical respect being PARAMOUNT to the enjoyment of UD rp. I spend so much time and energy groveling my way up the ladder(playing a Jaluk), and even that is a slow and sometimes halting process.

When someone comes along and tries to flout the hierarchy, I literally have no choice but to either threaten them with PvP, PvP them, or my favorite method: TELL ON THEM TO THE YATH Twisted Evil

The technical ruling is that there is no combat that is supposed to take place in the camp, by the Camp (NPC) Ilharess's orders. I believe that is the issue here. People are using that IC fact as a shield

Weird command from the Ilharess NPC, since the Drow kind of kill each other all the time...not stupidly, of course, but plots and schemes often end up like that. Openly insulting/attacking a jabbress is of course suicidal, and I do not believe the NPCs would stop the fight, in the hypothetical reality of the camp. Strange, that a Yathrin asks you to come out of the camp to beat you up...and then brings you back to camp to sacrifice you on the altar?? Weird...

Some of the people I don't get along with IC are the same people I get along with the most OOC. It is usually good to clear the air with a tell to let the other player or players know their are no hard feelings.

The ilharess made that decree to keep the two drow qu'ellars from duking it out in her camp, not to shield an idiot jaluk who wants to insult some above his status.

Please remember in lothite society we are Chaoitic and Evil!

Quote :
The lowest ranking jali is above the highest ranking jaluk. And the Yath is above all.

If you roll a jaluk expect jabressen and especially members of the yath to treat you poorly. If you mouth off to a jabress or a yath expect a reaction.

When a jabress is being IC and harassing your jaluk or reacting to your RP please don't go crazy and scream OOC harassment. We are evil. it doesn't mean we hate you OOC its IC!!!
