Those around the Myth Drannor Refugee camp or Lathander Farms could see Vincent staggering about in regular clothing seeming in a constant sickened state, coughing, wheezing and dragging his feet. Though despite his state he still attempts to help others as well as speak to people around the fire. But it's obvious something is different

Giah Lannars would approach the Hero and help him with a hand out held. A smile upon his face. "Only those who are foolish seek not the aid of others Vincent. The church of the morninglord will try to help aid you for it is obvious you are stricken." He speaks softly while walking with Vincent.

Vincent smirks to Giah's comment and chuckles, but it quickly turns into a somewhat violent cough into his sleeve before replying to him. "I do not...wish to burden my troubles upon others, instead....assist those I can with what I can... but if I ...need help the...church --" *he pauses to take a deep breathe before continuing on* "will be the first to...contact...also, I still have yet to...speak with the leader.." Vincent happily takes the aid of Giah continuing his work that he's able to do in his state

As Evan asks if anything is wrong and Vincent simply replies in a hoarse voice "Just seem to...have caught something...No worries are needed...Evan. And I ap...*he takes a heavy breathe momentarily* appreciate the offer and will....seek it if...needed. " He smiles weakly to him before attempting to continue on throughout the camp and farms.

* as soon as Zidanja is informed about Vincents state she rushes at his side and tries everything to heal and comfort him, but oddly enough she can't heal his disease, a deep frown and concern shows up on her face as she ponders what this could mean*

Jeyana Merryfoot can be seen around Vincent as well, seemingly worried about his weakened state.
She is apparently arguing with him too.

Later she approaches the cleric of Sehanine in Myth Drannor.
Those standing close enough would hear her asking the cleric to visit Vincent if he doesn't show up until noon the next day.
A rather heavy bag changes it's owner after the talk.

Jeyana then walks of with an expression of deep concern on her face.

*Taeron watches him from a distance. He just sighs as Vincent refuses to sit down and get treated, then just checks his equipment and heads out for yet another patrol*

*walking out of Town, Taeron mutters to himself:*

Never help a man who refuses help...

When you change your mind....

*he doesn't finish the sentence, locks his helmet and walks off into the forest*

*Upon roaming the camp and discovering the sickly Hero, Lanius strides to him with purpose all but jabbing him with the words "Go to bed you stupid fool, do you honestly think you're helping anyone while you're in this state? Didnt we 'just' talk about short-sighted individuals martyring themselves without thought? What if you were contagious?" *points vaguely north in the direction of his house* "Bed, now, im certain theres no end to the queue of clerics rushing to aid."

The Abbot of the Temple of Lathander watches with concern the man others called "Hero" coughing, wheezing and staggering about. Seeing Hero's reaction to Giah, Elijah decides to remain at a respectful distance.

He studies Hero's every movement, noting down on a small parchment, the frequency of the wheezes, the sound of the coughing and the color of Hero's countenance. In the Abbot's mind, he begins to picture the ebb and flow of qi in Hero's body, a frown spreading slowly across his face as he closes his eyes and concentrates.

He also approaches some of the common folk whom Hero has helped while in his weakened state. Taking out a small piece of cloth, he gently dabs the the areas Hero has touched, be it the foreheads or arms, murmuring to the common folk in a barely audible voice about "diseased moisture" and "investigation".

The Abbot swiftly returns to the temple and pulls out an ancient chest from beneath his bed. He spends the whole afternoon pouring over tomes and scrolls, occasionally looking at the notes he has written and taking small whiffs from the cloth he has dabbed.

Vincent smirks at all the people swarming to his aid, but it quickly turns to a warm smile as he greets each one that approaches him with helpful advice or aid. He of course would attempt to reply to each with a great thanks, and of course his usual stubborn reply of how he's fine. His voice hoarse, his right sleeve with little spots of blood from constant coughing that he attempts to wipe off mindlessly before continuing his way. Finally, he's drug to his house by Jeyana and Lanius bashing him to do so. After resting a full day he meets with the Cleric of Sehanine as he said he would to Jeyana. After what seems like hours of treatment, and casting nothing seems to cure him, the two frown deeply at this. The Cleric hands him herbs that could help dull the pain and coughing before advising him to rest heavily though she quickly gets to work attempting to discover why this disease was not cured after her several divine attempts. Vincent makes his way back home, slowly as he has the bag of herbs and medicines in his hands, a deep concerned look on his face as this disease simply seems to dominate him with the outlooks seeming grim.

After hearing of Vincent's predicament and that nothing seems to affect it, Morna'nique makes her way to the Blake-Aseph house. She'd politely greet the one opening the door unless of course there's no answer. Should the door open she'd then inquire when this all started and if she can use one prayer to determine whether or not it's the same thing that troubled the child of Auryne earlier. If given permission, she'd cast true seeing to see if there's a dark aura around Vincent. If not then she'd ask if he's seen a druid or a shaman already for they might have different methods to cure the ailment where priests fail. Continuing that such things seem to be at large where normal methods are useless. Perhaps having to do with this Lord of the Filth.

Either way she'd offer a potent curing prayer if it would at least ease his condition a little since other divine treatments have failed.

When Piak hears of Vincent's sickness, he comes for a short visit. His wide grin covers his concerns as he hands Vincent a couple of toy figures.... several orcs and other monsters, a finely crafted dragon, a princess... and of course a shining hero.
"Here, Vince.... nothing should keep you from playing hero, even your.... for sure temporary ailment."

Sayiel looks worried for Vincent. They don't know each other much, but she as a great respect for him.

"There is something I learned in those years in Myth Drannor, you can only help as much as you can. Making yourself sick to help will only put in danger those you could help in the futur."

Simply smiles to him and look at him go home with approbation on her face.

As time passes, the disease seems to grow and worsen Vincents condition to the point where he's hardly seen outside his house. Though with his stubborn behavior, he'd still attempt to leave but is quickly turned back as he's basically collapsing during short walks to the fire. With the state of his being and basically trapped in his home or bed all day, Vincent hasn't been a very happy Helmite, though he tries his best to look at the positive side of it all, despite how grim it is.

Assistant DM_Arcanum wrote:

As you drift off to yet another night of fitful sleep brought on by the sickness and fever, your mind fades to black. A split second later, the world comes back into focus. Though it is not the world you fell asleep in. As you look around, images twist and turn, morphing from one form to another in a surreal sequence of past, present, and possible future.

As the images swirl and change, some become clearer in the tempest of light, color, and shapes.

A great and unblinking eye forms in the center of the spectacle. Its gaze falls upon you, and then slowly turns to stare at other images as they coalesce into clear scenes. They eye changes slightly at each.

A scene of warriors dressed in the battle garb of the Companions of the One True Vision comes into focus. They ride through a land of jungles, slaughtering all who question or are seen as a threat. No mercy is shown. When the knight’s blade strikes down a child, the watching eye grows dark and distant. As the warrior removes his helmet, the blank face has no eyes. “Never betray your trust” echoes through your mind.

The next scene forms as the eye turns towards it. A knight of the Everwatch stands guard at his post. He is a young man with close cropped hair and only the faintest hint of a beard. As you watch, his gaze never falters. He keeps his eyes watching the horizon for trouble as the time speeds up. Days turn to nights and back again. The seasons change in mere moments. Summer sun quickly fades as leaves on the surrounding hills begin to change color and drop. Snow follows soon after and is just as quickly melted away as the sun begins to warm the land again. The cycle repeats itself over and over. The young knight grows older. His hair grows long and begins to grey. His beard grows in and joins the rest of his hair in the losing of color. All the while, his gaze holds true to his sworn duty to watch and be on guard. This never once falters. The unblinking eye watches this and grows bright before turning its gaze upon you for a moment. A feeling of duty washes over you, giving you strength and endurance to face any foe, including pestilence, without fear. A voice from deep inside your mind calls out: "He also serves who stands and waits and watches carefully."

The eye then turns back to the swirling mass of images as another slowly materializes. A battlefield littered with wounded comes into view. A blood-stained knight fights off a demonic attacker as he shields the fallen. After slaying the beast, the middle-aged knight tends to the wounded while keeping an eye out for more enemies. The eye turns from this scene to you and the brightness grows. It fills you with the energies of life itself and you feel the tingling in your fingers. “Watch over the fallen and never betray their trust.”

The eye again turns to the swirling maelstrom of time and places as another scene takes form. This time, a noble knight, dressed in the finest of shimmering armor emblazoned with the symbol of Helm stands before an army of man and monster. Behind him stands a motley band of beaten and impoverished peasants of almost every conceivable race. It is clear the army wishes to destroy the pathetic group. But the knight stands his ground. From the midst of the army, a man in equally bright armor emerges. He offers a compromise. The horde will take only those deemed less than desirable and spare the others. Less than half the peasants are races such as Yuan-ti, Drow, Orcs, and Tieflings. Surely the world would not miss such creatures. As the noble knight looks back, he watches the faces of those who would be lost to this deal. Some had the look of evil about them. But most had only the look of fear and helplessness. Some had children gripping their legs in absolute panic. The knight slowly turns back to the spokesman, draws his great blade, and slowly shakes his head no. The hoard roars. The knight swings his blade. And the battle is over. None of the hoard is standing and none of the peasants has fallen. The eye again turns to gaze at you and brightens once more. You are awash in the glow and feel your very soul strengthened by it and your resolve to protect unwavering. “You must protect the weak, the unpopular, the injured, and the young and not sacrifice them for others.”

As the eye continues to stare at you, the various knights from all the scenes save the first slowly appear before you. As each removes his helmet, you find yourself gazing upon a face you recognize. Each warrior wears the same face.

And that face is yours.

The great eye seems to be from a face that smiles upon you. Then the glow grows too bright for you to look at any more and all goes white.

Vincent awakens from his restless sleep and sits straight up in bed. The sheets completely soaked in sweat. His eyes snap open wider than anyone has ever seen them as he looks about the room. He looks at his hands before wiping his face with them. Those in the room rush to his side to hold him from harming himself in a fevered seizure only to find he no longer has any trace of the fever. He is weak and dehydrated, but otherwise, he is completely healed from his former sickness. And those that know him see in his eyes a new sense of purpose.

The Hero has awakened.
