A human at the Temple Empty
PostSubject: A human at the Temple   A human at the Temple EmptyWed Aug 01, 2012 7:51 am

A tall lanky slightly balding man, with a feathered hat and flower pined to his shirt is seen at the temple. He speaks a very formal elven to the priests and poliety asks to learn about the Elven Pantheon, expecially Sehanine Moonbow.

The priestess smiles and begins to speak with him, looking pleased that someone has taken the time to appreciate the beauty of the temple and to inquire about it.

“Our temple hosts statues to our divine, which you can clearly see before you. There is Aerdrie Faenya, who presides over air, weather, and rains. Angharradh, who presides over spring, rebirth, wisdom, and defense. Corellon Larethian, who presides over magic, music, arts, poetry, and bards. Erevan Ilesere who sees over roguish types and mischief. Fenmarel Mestarine watches over outcasts, scapegoats, and those who find themselves isolated for whatever reason. Hanali Celanil presides over things like love, romance, and beauty. Rillifane Rallathil looks over the woods, nature, and those who who protect them. Shevarash is our god of vengeance, crusades, loss, hatred of the dark ones. Solonor Thelandira presides over archery, hunting, and surviving in the wilderness.

As for Sehanine Moonbow, who you asked of specifically, she presides over dreams, mysticism, death, journeys, the moon and the stars. She watches over the dreams of the elves, keeping them from harm while in reverie and sending omens to protect them from future dangers. She governs sleep, dreams, and mystic revelations. She rarely speaks directly to her followers, but instead she sends them dreams and visions. She also oversees the passing of the dead, and seeks to ensure that elves have received their last rites.”

He listens to the Priestess with rapt attention. "I was told a bit by. . a wonderful young elf. But I wanted to learn more. Sehanine Moonbow seems a little like Selune. Are they allies? I pay homage to her and would like to know more, if that is not an imposition?" He smiles warmly. His hat held at his side as they walk learning about the differant Gods.

"My name is Junstal Etherr of Cormyr. I've had the honor of being accpeted at the Windsong tower of Wizardy, and would like to know more of your wonderful city and culture."

The priestess smiles.

“I have devoted my life to the service of the temple. My knowledge of the gods of humans is not quite as complete as I'd like it to be. Perhaps you can tell me?

As for Sehanine, her power waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon, growing strongest when the moon is full. And, her faithful view life as a series of mysteries veiled by Sehanine herself. The spirits of elves discover new mysteries once they transcend their mortal existences. Sehanine unveils the next step through dreams and visions revealed during the elven reverie. Her worshippers revere the moons, feeling their pull in their souls like tides in the ocean. Sehanine's clerics are the seers and mystics of elven society. They serve as the spiritual counselors to elves and half-elves who seek to embark on journeys in search of enlightenment so as to transcend their current state of being. As shepherds and protectors of the dead, her clerics organize and administer funeral rites and guard the remains of the fallen. She is, perhaps, the mightiest of the female deities of the Seldarine. Her tears are said to have mingled with Corellon's blood to form the elven race.

Her dogma, is the following creed: Life is series of mysteries whose secrets are veiled by the Luminous Cloud. As the spirit transcends its mortal bounds and new mysteries are uncovered, a higher form is achieved and the cycle of life continues. Through contemplation and meditation, communion with the Lady of Dreams is achieved. Through dreams, visions, and omens revealed in sleep or the reverie, the Daughter of the Night Sky unveils the next step along the path and the next destination on the endless journey of mystic wonder that is life and death.

Now, tell me of your Selune?"

He smiles, "Selune, or Our Lady of Silver, is the Goddess of the Moon and Stars. Many who live by those hold her sacred, such as navigators, wanderers and questers. And she intern watches over them. She is even known to help give powers to goodly Lycanthropes such as wereravens. Many in the priesthood of Selune perform fortune-telling, healing, and teach others self-reliance and humility."

Selûne's ethos seems to be one of acceptance and tolerance over any other overriding principle. All are to be made welcome in her faith and seen as equal, and fellow Selûnites should be aided freely, as if they were one's dearest friends. "May Selûne guide your steps in the night, and bring them to the new dawn" is the common blessing of priests of Selûne to the faithful.

Novices are charged with the words of the goddess: "Let all on whom my light falls be welcome if they desire to be so. As the silver moon waxes and wanes, so too does all life. Trust in my radiance, and know that all love alive under my light shall know my blessing. Turn to the moon, and I will be your true guide."

A silvery haired young elf enters the temple. Spotting the man with the priestess, she simply sits in the distance, keeping herself out of view for the moment while shamelessly eavesdropping on the conversation. She twirls a small pink flower between her fingertips.

[s]"Well said, fellow Selunite."

Entering the temple as Selune's description is given, a young man clothed in elegant, yet tasteful clothing enters. The slight jingling of chain and the light armor around his leggings belie the suit of armor beneath. Taking a dark hat off his head, he takes a seat at one of the nearby benches, hefting his pack off his shoulders to take a brief respite from his journeys. Slight dark rings under his eyes contrast with his amber face markings.[/s]

The priestess would simply nod to the newcomers politely.

"It does sound as though the two are similar in aspects, yes."

She glances at the man who had just entered.

"And what about you? Do you have anything to add about your patroness?"
