A note for Valtore Empty

*A note for Valtore is left at the School*

To Valtore.
I have recently spoken with Targlan about addressing some current issues within the Clan, and I asked him whether there were any ancient Dwarven artefacts that would come of use to the clan which could be recovered. He told me that I should ask you, as you would be the person most likely to know. So if there are any which you know of which would come of use to the clan, could you either seek me out to let me know, or leave a note for me at the Halls. I can often be found either at the Royal Oak or within the Halls.

Many thanks,
Dithar Ironhouse.

Dithar,

It is good to hear from you. As you well know when the Ironhouse clan was at the height of their power they had many artifacts housed in the Halls. Weapons, armor, tools, gems, and other fantastic creations by their master smiths. However when the Zhentairm sent the Orc and demon army to invade and steal our Ancestral Home many of these treasures were stolen. The clan has recovered the Axe of Leadership, which Grendel now carries, the Gate Master's Helm and both the First Crown of Thanes and the retorted Crown; all of which Targlan holds now.

In my research two other relics of significance are still lost. The first is the Medallion of Thane Nerbian, Paladin of Moradin. He claimed this item was a gift from Moradin himself and given to him while on a pilgrimage to the stone bridge before he became Thane. It was rumored to grant great wisdom and sturdiness in battle. It was passed down from Thane to Thane and was a symbol of the right to rule. From the Book of Ahur, which gives details of the Fall of the Halls to the invaders the Last Thane of the Halls was killed just inside the great gates. His body was devoured by a large demon. While the Axe was taken by his son, the Medallion was thrown into the great cavern below the bridge. It has yet to be found.

The other artifact is the Book of Moradin. It was a Mithral and Platinum crafted book that had the prayers of the God as well as the birth records of all the major families of the Clan. It was the Book that all important Oaths were sworn on. When the Halls were attacked the Head Priest of Moradin instructed the Keeper of the Book, a young dwarf named Trellin, to take the Book to Myth Drannor through the secret exit in the mines. Unfortunately he was the first to discover the Orcs had invaded the mines as well. The fate of the lad and book is unknown, as he was chased into the deeper mines and lost to time. The Book is possibly somewhere down in the unexplored sections.

I hope this helps you cousin, may Dugmaren aid you in your quest.

*Another note is left for Valtore*

Valtore,

I'm not sure if word has reached you, but myself, Grendal and Targlan, and many others, managed to retrieve the Book of Moradin. I just wanted to thank you for passing your knowledge onto me, for I fear if I had not known, we may not have realised our chance to retrieve it. I currently have possession of it until we can get it stored safely within the halls, as we obviously do not wish for it to be lost again. I haven't opened it, as I do not wish to be disrespectful to the All-Father Moradin, however, perhaps we could arrange a time for us, including the Elders, to open it and read what knowledge is contained within. I shall keep it safe and well looked after until that time comes.

Until next time,
Dithar.
