A silent prayer, at the Lathander temple Empty
PostSubject: A silent prayer, at the Lathander temple   A silent prayer, at the Lathander temple EmptyMon May 06, 2013 4:28 am

At the brake of dawn one morning, a small figure enters the temple of Lathander, holding her hood faced down, her face obscured by a white mask (Note: she put this on when she went inside the temple, not when arriving in MD) She sits in a far corner of the temple, alone, and lights a small candle she brought herself, and folds her hand in prayer, though no words cross the girls lips, as she remains in silent prayer.

((DM's and players alike, feel free to drop in))

The elderly Mornmaster Beron, who was holding the holy morning rites like every dawn, would approach the masked female after the sermon.

He would give her a warm smile

"Lathanders blessed light upon you child, may the dawn fill you with hope and joy.
No need to hide your face here child, you are among friends and safe here."

He would then see off the faithful who came to be part of the morning rites.
After that he would return to the altar, nodding with a smile to the masked female and start to pack the holy relics back in their cases until the next sermon.

The girl, whom the cleric would likely remember as being one of the people in the melee during the greengrass festival, nods slightly towards the cleric, however she remains where she is, an her mask stays on, as she remains there, motionless and silent.

A day and a night passes, and the girl remains on the floor in the temple, doing her silent prayer, the candle she brought burned around half way down at this point

The elderly Mornmaster would bring her water and food and place it near her.

"I will be there for you, if you need to talk."

With that he leaves the girl to her Meditation and goes about his daily Temple routines.

As the next morning breaks, the candle the girl brought, finally burns out, and as it does so, the girl finally gets to her feet, first now noticing the food places by the Mornmaster, she takes the water, and drinks it, but brings the plate back to the kitchen, and leaves it there. She then goes in search for the Mornmaster, scribing on a scroll as she searches. When she finds the man, she simply hands the man the scroll.

And the scroll says:

Greetings honored one,

I'm Liliany Hilion, a monk from the Order of the Pathless Ways.
I've been in the dales for quite a while now, and noticed no other monks.
I wonder, is there none of the Sun Soul order here?

The Mornmaster would take the note and reading it only now comprehending that she doesnt speak for one reason or the other.

He would smile warmly again at her

"May the dawn bless you with hope Liliany, i am Mornmaster Beron. I am afraid the last Monk that resided here at the temple was abbot Elijah and he has been absent for quite some time now. So i am afraid the answer to your question is no, there are no current resident Monks of the Sun Soul at the temple.
What has brought you to our temple then? Looking for mentor or people of like mind and spirit."

He would lead her upstairs to a room with a round table where a young priest is preparing the table with some food.

"i hope you wont decline my invitation for some food this time or is it against the ethos of your order?"

The girl smiles gently, and takes off the white mask she's been wearing, and shakes head at his last words, and follows the old man to the table, and takes a seat. When offered food, she takes some, but only very little.

Beron would go to a small side desk in the room and bring her some paper, quill and ink.

"it so nice to see your face" he smiles softly "your mask, why do you wear it if i may ask? such a lovely and gentle smile shouldnt be hidden from the world"

He would pour himself some Water and eat some food while he watches her with a smile

The girl takes the paper, quill and ink, and writes out her anwswer to his question

It's a reminder to myself of the wrongs I've committed, my words have hurt those I cared very deeply about, so I've taken up a vow of silence, with the Morning Lord as my witness. The mask is something a symbol of my vow.

The girl gently scratches the beck of her neck, glancing around the room

The Mornmaster reads the note and nods

"I see, i understand your reasons and respect your vow of course. I want to congratulate you to your show of martial dicipline at the Greengrass tournament by the way...
So you do you wish to join the Sun Soul order?
Or some other part of our church?"

The girl ponders for some time at the Mornmasters words, before she again puts her unspoken words on paper

I didn't plan to come here to join the Sun Soul order, I still have an oath to my current order. The pathless ways, we travel the worlds, to perfect our martial arts, and learn new ways from every person with similar martial training.

As for another part of the church, again I will have to say no, I'm no priest, so honestly I dont really belong in a church. However, I do offer you my help, should you ever need it, I noticed that there might be a few things I could help with around these parts.

Mornmaster Beron would nod in understanding.

"I see, you are welcome to spend as much times as you like here at the temple and we gladly welcome any help you can offer in our work to help the good people of the Lathander settlement and Myth Drannor"
