| The bye... First I would like to say thank you to all the wonderfull players who took initiative on some of my offers to run events. It was great feeling letting playerrun ideas mostly come through and sorry to all those who thought the surface revamping was a mess, but since I started on this server i felt the geography was such a mess that i felt it halfway impossible to tolerate. I hope you will enjoy teh new mapping in time and that builders in future will update the map and make areas/transitions reflecting the true distances between things. I have passed word of all my plotlines to fellow DM, so if you were part of twin celestials, monestary investigations, cormyrians or rebel stuff, then the staying dms should have the info around to continue those plotlines if you like. Else I might still be on Dm_Random skype account to be met. All in all its been great working with you Dms and players alike and despite my leave I hope you get a good server running for a long time (since I might stick around as player still). The why... My main reason for stopping as a dm is a single player that decided to send a rather nasty message to all DMs after me and 2 others dms event. I got very upset about the ammount of disrespect for dms work and thought it appropriate with a warning for player for simply beeing rude. My former fellow dms did not agree on this and I really dont feel like Dmming on a server where such player assaults are tolerated. While this message may to some people be considered whining and bitching over staff decision, I encourage that you see it in the spirit Im trying to write it. Instead of just leaving with no word, I want this to be a reminder to keep a good attitude and think about what you write others. Yes, I might be a sensitive person, but I dont think that mean I need to tolerate these kind of words. Judge for yourself, but PLEASE just use it as a reminder to be nice. These are the words that caused a DM to resign - though not for any of players mentioned reasons: - player wrote:
I usually try to always end with something positive, even when I'm being critical, but I just can't find anything nice to say. I don't think my writing this will even effect any kind of change; DB DMs are notoriously resistant to that kind of thing and I expect the same old "shrugs and move on" response that players here always receive in this situation. In the absence of kind words coming to me, I leave you with this:
If coming up with a source of conflict in an event means completely god-moding one group, then consider resigning from staff. If you don't have the time to think an event through and how success might be realistically achieved, then consider resigning. And if running the event the way you want is that important to you, then definitely resign right now.

| Sounds like the message of a player who didn't get what he wanted but now got what he asked for in the message. Either way it's sad that you go. Even though I couldn't be part of most of your events the rebels seemed to have a bit more activeness with you. Don't let that stuff get too close to you and I hope you will enjoy your time as a player still. | |

| Well, since you all but identified me, I may as well comment:
I stand by my words: any DM who gives a player crap for suggesting an alternative to a terrible plan really should ask themselves if they should be DMing. Events are about what the players want to try, not about what you want them to do. Encouraging you to reevaluate does not constitute an "assault" as you called it.
I watched months of RP get flushed away just like that, because you wanted us to follow what was already identified as a bad plan, and when I write a PM about it (yes with some obvious emotion but no swearing or name-calling) I'm the bad guy. Thanks.

I could just add a "+1" here ... .... but I'd like to add that I LOVE the new map layout. It makes a lot more sense, it feels right in so many ways, it removes the eyetwitch I sometimes got when leaving an area northwards and entering on the next area on my way south.... etc. Even if you hadn't done anything else in your time as a DM it would be more than enough to be sad about your goodbye. An advice/hope (slight critizicm included ): I sincerly hope that you and the player you mentioned (I'm glad you didn't write the name at least ) can sort out the differences by having a calm, polite PM talk. You just got misunderstood by Karovir (I hope he misunderstood you), maybe the source of your apparent frustration is a similar misunderstanding as well. Anyway, it's indeed sad that you leave as a DM, please stay as a player at least. See you ingame. EDIT: @cdnspr: As I was not part of that event (thanks to you using party chat which makes it impossible to spy upon anyone at all ;) ) I didn't know it was about you at all. And I'd like to ask you the same I asked Random: keep that to PMs* please. PLEASE. (*Or if you need supervision/moderation etc, open a skype chat with the people that should discuss this. There is no need to lay out the whole thing in public. Really. )

| The issue was solved in polite pms between me and the player. We agreed to disagree about how one is a proper dm and have each our side we prefer. I never intended this thread to be a discussion... just a bye and please stay polite guys.
So lets please stick that spirit and topic or at least make new thread if you really want to discuss the chain of events if you need to.

| Sorry to see you go, man. You better stay on as a player, though.
For what it's worth, I always think discussions like this are ultimately good for the community, as long as everyone can stay calm/objective - but I can see this isn't the best place for it.
As for the new maps, I think its amazing that someone took the time to improve on what was here, instead of just trying to shoehorn in their own thing. I like the new surface layout, and more importantly I like the attempt at bringing more believability and logic to the server.

| Random, you've been an amazing DM. You've poured out so much of yourself to the players in your time DMing, without stint and you've handled a lot in your time, while enriching the players' experience a lot both DM side and building side. You and Hyper-V are two of the best staff members Dalelands Beyond has ever had. Thank you personally for the events I've been in. There haven't been as many as I'd like , but each sticks out in my mind. (Putting the last event aside because I think this is all rather sad and would rather not think about it or see this friction) I have loved the way your events reflect player action and inaction and that the players reap the consequences of what they decide. Sometimes harsh things result, and that is realistic. Sometimes win, sometimes loose. I've loved it on the rare occasions I've had chance to take part. *salute*

| Its definetely not fair you leaving, cause you definetely didnt deserve such judgement imho as you ever demonstrated the qualities of a good and not partial DM, still if you feel bad in a place due bad treatment its perfectly understandable you can't go longer. Thanks for all the fun and the hard times some of us had to face to achieve some goals. Be happy and have success wherever you go man. | |

| Well, you cannot please everyone. I hope you maintain sticking around as a player for sure. I really enjoyed your you get what you put into it DMing style where things were not handed out but you had to actually work to achieve success in them, as the lovely Songbird already complemented.
That being said if you want to talk about things or just chat and Bs in general you know how to reach me. It was fun to play with that mindset, reminded me of PnP.

| Whatever occurred regarding the event is between Random and the author of that PM, where it really should have stayed. Please make any further comments posted to this thread be fond farewells to a DM that will be missed. Thank you. | |

| It is sad when any DM leaves his position. I am sure you have impacted many players charachters in positive ways. It is important to remember that. Sometimes being a DM is Hard. It is not always easy to be a leader. I am sorry to see you go but i hope you can find joy in the game itself.
I personnaly feel the DM staff here are doing an Amazing Job and any player who disagrees with me should really sit back and look around. I played on many servers. Some of them never saw a DM event and Some saw many. The ones with the constant and regular events were always better then the ones without.
