By the Twisted Tower

A dark figure walks the streets of Shadowdale with haste and impressive grace. He wore black hood, black cloak and armor underneath. As he marches through the cold night he was looking around, trying to understand this city better.
He remembered the tales of the "Land Under Shadow" back then. He thought it's funny that eventually the humans defeated their enslavers like that and now reside here. Back at his days he would have never dreamed of coming here.
But the Cormanthor changed as the rest of the world did.

As he walked, avoiding any curious eyes and attention, he was deep in thoughts. Thoughts about his destiny, if he is the coward he blames himself to be, or simply walking the footprints the gods left for him.

He finally arrived at the twisted tower. Luckly he could see much better than the humans who were guarding it.
They were not his enemies, but maybe out of shame or simply his natural instinct to be covert, he preferred that his presence would go unnoticed.

He reached to his pocket and drew a tiny wooden cube. He brought it closer to his mouth and whispered a the password into it: "draugrim". Tiny sparkles appeared out of the cube and formed a small pack of 4 wolves. It worked perfectly, The illusion was flawless. The wolves knew right away what was in his mind. They went low and started sneaking towards the guards at the door.

The wolves appeared out of nowhere and started barking at the guards. The guards were a little startled but came to their wits really fast. They were about to strike when the wolves started to back down slowly and the guards attention with them. That was the opportunity he was looking for.
He shifted the ring on his left finger and become invisible. This extrodinary invisibility ring always felt odd. It was not a mere invisibility spell but one that was made by the most skillfull crafter he had even seen. He could bearly see himself when using a rod of true seeing, but the session used to tire the user quite much. He would not be able to use this ring for more than minute or two and then he would have to rest.
He was nearly at the gate when then he used another trinket his friend made for him. It had few single charges but was the most useful tool he had ever seen. He held the two small metal balls in his palm and closed it to bang them together. A quiet chime was heard and he felt lighter than a feather. He simply walked through the door and passed it while it's still locked. Then he rushed inside and took cover, to rest for now.
After all..he has quite a journey a head of him.

Well inside of the tower Valtore continues to sort the books in the library. Stacks of rare one of a kind tomes stacked to one side, dangerous books needed to be kept locked away in another. Books the town could sell for a good profit in a third. The rest still on the shelves. If anyone entered the tower he is none the wiser. Every so often he grumbles in ancient elven or talks to himself and his God.

"So far, most of what he's found are Book Keeping types of books, things like inventory, finances, basic stuff for keeping track of what is supposed to be where. Some of them would hold historical value as they date back to the earliest days the Dales people actually held the thing. The newest ones are all written by the Zhents." (Dm approved)

Valtore heads to the front door with the information he has discovered he plans to hand over to the guard before leaving town.. He has his bags packed with the supplies the priests have brought.

*A Novice returning from his daily deliveries in the tower notifies that the Loremaster ended his work and is preparing to leave Town. The High Harvestmistress sends a final load of special large and juicy apples, selected in the Temple's Gardens with her thanks and asking that he send a full report to the City Council. She personally casts "Favor of the Goddess" in the fruits for her good old friend journey.*

He went down and down and down and down...it seemed like it is never going to end.
The deeper her went, that odd feeling became stronger. It felt like a void was open inside his chest, something empty and hungry and pure.

Those strange crystals also were so odd to him. He has never been in the underdark before and it was worse than stories for sure. "At least I did not encounter any drow yet", he thought to himself.

He kept going, not sure where to go, not sure what his destination is. He believed destiny was guiding his legs and arms.
Eventually the tunnel was blocked by a big odd rock that seemed somehow misplaced. He carefully tried to examine it and to his surprise the rock was very solid. He was quite sure it was an illusion! Even that he was not very fond with the weave and the art, he could sense the magic here.
He tried to chime the metal balls the high mage gave him and he felt again how his body becomes nothing. He tried to pass through the rock, but it did not let him pass.

He was stuck now. He would have to figure out how to pass around this rock, or go and call for help.
