A Sensitive Library Vault left open

Deep within the Library of Myth Drannor in an utmost restricted area lies an open vault. The index card that led to this particular trove has been discarded on the floor within decent proximity and the contents removed from the vault are clear once a cross reference check was made. Furthermore, De'Lyn Arrenwaie one of the keepers of this corridor has been missing beyond her vacation allotment, for three days.


There are no signs of tampering or break in. Its as if someone just walked down here and removed what they wanted, then hastily departed.

Aerul investigates and tries to meet Ardylan of the defenders to inform the following:

That De'Lyn had been proving service to Myth Drannor's Library for the last 10 years. She had previously moved to MD from Silverymoon where she was a part of a secret Triad that guarded mysterious tomes and literature unsuitable for public observance.

Every three months she would take R&R to an unknown region, but was witnessed taking the boat man out of Myth Drannor Ten days ago.

Might you Ardylan have any clues I have not?

*Ardylan nods to Aerul as the Elder Librarian present hands Ardy an index card.*

"I just might, Aerul... I just might."

*He holds the index card up for Aerul to see, but he doesn't hand it over quite yet.*

"Check out those subjects. Myths and legends? Immortality? Biogenetics? Whatever the heck that is..."

*Ardylan scratches the back of his head for a moment. He then pulls out his leather notebook and charcoal, quickly copying down the contents of the index card. When he's finished, he hands it over to Aerul.*

"I can't stay here long, Aerul. I have another investigation going on as well and I have to be somewhere very soon. If you'd like to help me though... do you think you could find out something about this Perrywinkle writer? The thief took two of his-or-her books, one on immortality and a journal."

"I bet if we figure out what Perrywinkle does - or did - with their life, it would give us some insight into what is in the journal. Maybe then we can connect all these subjects together. It sure looks like someone is doing research on something they're not supposed to be."

*Ardylan thanks the Elder Librarian who gave him the card and starts to make his way out of the vault.*

"I'll be back to check up on you later, Aerul. I'm going to finish some other business... oh, and maybe you should talk to the boatman too, when you can."

*Just before Ardylan leaves, he pokes his head back into the room.*

"Oh, and figure out for me what in Toril this "Biogenetics" nonsense is!"

*As Ardylan heads out of the city and toward the farms, he lights up another cigarette and sighs.*

"I feel like I'm turning into Wakefield. I just hope I don't shrink to his size... That'd be disappointing."

As Sylwyn notices De'Lyn's absence he enters the library to investigate and notices Ardy just before he leaves. "Investigating De'Lyn's disappearance? I'd like to help"

"Help? Excellent! It'd be great if you could interview the boatman. Apparently this missing woman was last seen boarding his boat and leaving the city. If you could find out if the boatman recalls anything about that event, I'd be grateful for the help."

"of course"

Sylwyn turns around and leaves the library, heading directly for the boatman. Upon arriving in front of him, he begins asking.

"Hail boatman! I have a little problem here. Seems De'Lyn has been missing for quite some time now, and she was apparently last seen boarding your boat to go somewhere. Don't get me wrong, you're not a suspect or anything, we'd just like to see if you talked to her and she happen to mention where she's going? Also, when exactly did you ferry her across?"

Sylwyn talks to the boatman in an easy manner that shows how frequent Sylwyn has actually taken the boatman's boat and socialized with him on the ride.

The Boatman nods slightly as he assists travelers onto his vessel. when the last one boards to return to Myth Drannor his attention is fully realized and he folds his leather gloves, places them into his pockets and speaks,"She passes through here for her R&R every six months or so," and looks tot he passengers as they get settled in. "But has only mentioned Freehaven as a destination. Other than that I'm not sure. It's really none of my business. Is she well?"

He purses his lips, a bit unsure of how much to tell the boatman.

"Well, we are a bit worried, because she has been gone longer than normal. We wouldn't want to jump to conclusions for now, but we will let you know if we find out more."

He leaves the boatman to find Ardy, in order to convey the information he's discovered. He heads towards the farms to look for Ardy. Upon finding him, he lets him know what the boatman said.

"It seems there's a large possibility that she could be in Freehaven. Apparently she goes there every 6 months during her R&R"
