| Word spreads around the Halls that Valtore has been called to Silverymoon to server in the Order of the Lost Tomb's temple there. He packs all of his belongings and leaves quickly. Leaving a note that leaves the Clan in Grendel's capable hands. He dosen't know when he will be back, if ever.
//due to RL I am not going to have enough time to play regularly anymore. So Valtore will be shelved. Thanks to everyone for the fun over the last 18 months.

| Assuming Aly can find someone to translate elven into dwarven for her, or a Tongues spell can be dropped (not the Evard's version!), she would offer the following testimony. She'll also chug a mug for them to get their attention (fort +23).
I am Aly'nalathia of Smiling Wolf tribe, daughter of Mhair and ally to Iron House. The Gold Dwarves of the great rift in the Sea of Grass are known to me, from my crossing. I know you expect words of flowers and wine from a Quessir, but I am a Spear, trained in the ways of war and defense of the tribe. And I say, Targlan has defended this fortress. All can see this is so, for it stands and prospers. But more, Targlan has defended this Clan.
The ways of tribes are weaving and myriad. This land is not Mhair, and when I left there, all I knew became wrong. My people's ways, they are not done, always another people has other ways, strange ways. But people are people, and some things do not change. By watching, I learned how the tribes of these strange lands move. There is much I could speak of. But I will cut the vine at the root.
You say Targlan was wrong to allow selected of the proscribed blood to enter this place. In the rift in the Sea of Grass, you would be right, for there you have strength, and the tribes around you know these ways well. But here, in Cormanthyr's shade and among the Dalefolk? To have cleaved to this rule would have harmed the Clan. For the Clan, strong as these dwarves may be, growing as it may be, is yet small here, and must be aware of larger neighbors.
I say, if Targlan had forbid entry to these few who have proven themselves, then many in this forest would have turned from Iron House in disgust. Many strong spears, the favor of the Gods of this land, and opportunities for material trade, denied the Clan in a time of war... balanced against allowing carefully considered individuals into the fully armed, watched, and warded Clan hall, where, should they betray you, they might manage to stab as many dwarves as they would in ambush outside the halls.
You yourselves place him in a snare. Your code demands he not allow them, yet he is sworn to protect this post and its people. Should he cleave to the code and ignore his Clan weakening? Or protect the Clan, even if it damages his own standing by breaking this code?
Elders, I say this code exists to protect the Clan. So the choice should be clear...as it was to Targlan. If he should be punished for choosing the Clan over himself, it should be with longer duty.

| A thick parchment, inscribed with heavy dwarven runes, would be left for Aly.
"Your testimony is well-received, Daughter of Mhair, but you misunderstand our concern. Water worms through cracks, ablating away the foundations of a Clan Hold... and may not be discovered until irreparable damage has been done. We do not doubt that Targlan thought he was defending the Ironhouse, it is the wisdom and integrity of his actions that we question.
By his leave, a Devil's servant brought a Drow assassin to the very heart of the Halls. How do you justify that?"

| It has come to my attention that my testimony at the trial was perhaps misleading or confusing.
The judge had asked if anyone could speak regarding the matter of the teifling and I told what I knew.
The events that I spoke of: the decision to allow the devil-bound teifling and her associates to enter the halls in disguise and her decision to bring a drow assasin into the halls both occurred some time ago. The drow entered the halls and was killed the very same day that the Sharians attacked the mountain causing so much destruction to it and the surrounding forest. The earlier meeting where the decision was made happened approximately one week before that.
I am afraid that I do not recall if Targan was present either time nor do I know how much influence he had on those decisions.

| Another thick parchment, inscribed with heavy dwarven runes, would be left for Anadra.
"No Drow should ever, under any circumstances, be able to sneak or gain entry into a dwarven Hold, least of all one unsupervised. Targlan's presence and influence is a matter that needs to be ascertained, but if he is unable to keep cursed Drow out of the Hall, he has clearly failed in his duty.

| Over the next few days, the three judges would be found exploring the halls, talking to various dwarves and any other visitors that wished to chat. They seem, for the most part, to speak only Dwarven, although they understand Common well enough, and one of them (Nurven) would, at times, ask question in broken Common, with a thick, heavy accent.
Anyone wishing to speak to them, whether it be to discuss Targlan or life in the Halls, would be met politely, and matters discussed over mugs of Bacon Ale.
((Any questions or testimony for the judges, post them here. Next phase of the Trial will take place IG Tomorrow, Monday November 26th, at 15 GMT/9 AM EST in the Ironhouse Halls))

| Evan has recently heard of the trial of Targlan and the drow incident. He sends a note to the judges:
I remember and was present at the drow incident mentioned and I believe it happened during the old thanes rule before Targlan had any official position(unless he had a official position under the old thane). The old thane was not present tough but Valtore and Grendel where present if I remember correctly.

| Sarah Carter, a human sword-fighter, leaves a message for the judges that she had today seen a drow in the ironhouse halls and that the drow was with Targlan, and some other dwarves. the guards were simply ignoring the drow's presence even in the temple. | |

| Three times, Head Judge Khelmar stands before the Ironhouse Halls, and makes a short declaration in Dwarven.
"There appears to be some confusion about our presence here, and some feel threatened by the arrival of "foreign judges" meddling in Ironhouse affairs. This is a foolish sentiment. We are not here to judge the Ironhouse. We have no formal power, nor would we wish to coerce a Clanhold. We are here simply to advise and review Targlan's performance and judgement, as a member of the Golden Masks. He offered us hospitality, and we, of course, accepted it. We are guests here, as all dwarves should be, and will leave if requested.
However, we have a duty to perform, and we shall do so. Should Targlan not wish our presence any longer, that is all that really need be said. But we have full confidence that his... "heart", at least, is in the right place, even if his judgement has been deeply flawed by foolish sentimentality."

| The Judges would find Valtore's records very detailed and brutally honest about events. In them they would find that Valtore himself was responcible for the allowing of the Half-DRAGON Garok to reside in the caves of the Halls. He was not the first line of defence but it was a chance given to the person to find a more noble calling in his life and to rise above the Half-orcish blood of his mother. His father was after all a Bronze Dragon.
The claims of a full drow being allowed to live in the Hall are true however those relate to the last Thane (Fohgar-most likely drooling in some courner now) who made an allience with the Eilistraee drow who were well know friends of the Clan and who aided the Clan in reclaiming the Ancestral Halls. After she left these lands no other full drow was allowed to enter the Halls.
At the last recording he does talk of a Half Drow who aided in the final battle against the Black Dragon who had claimed the Halls. She was also responcible for the release of the High Priest of the Clan from the clutches of the Zhentairm as well as aided the clan in other matters. However after she was found to be a willing servent and Lover of one high ranking Zhentarium solider she was banished from the Halls and threatened with pain of death should she ever return.
A few other references are made of Lairena; whom Valtore himself allowed into the Halls after she aided the clan in battling a demon and the destruction of a Zhentairum Fort. She was identified and had a large price on her head. Valtore gave her sanctuary, and Targlan talked at length with her about breaking her pact and freeing her soul. Valtore is the one who worked to give her citizanship of the Clan in the belief that a stable family and home would help save the girl's soul. From the writings it is clear that Valtore saw the girl as close to family.
The only references about Targlan were about him helping free an elf's soul from the clutches of Shar, and working to free Lairena's soul. Other then that he is not mensioned in any connection to the events he is being questioned about. He was not named an elder until well after any of those events took place.
If they do some digging the event of the hooded drow spy allowed into the Halls is just mensioned taking place during the Shadovar attack on the Halls. It states that he joined the large group of people who entered the Halls as the Shadovar were attacking. Valtore identified the person by the weapon he was using (one that Valtore himself had crafted for a man to protect his family). Upon identifing who the man was he was forcibly removed from the Halls and killed. Targlan was not even present at the time that this took place.
Targlan is refered to once before his Elder status was given. He was named Judge of one criminal known only as Badger. The criminal was found guilty of assulting a citizan of the Hall and sentenced to death by being tossed off the Bridge. Valtore writes that Targlan demanded that Grendel beat the criminal unconscience before tossing him off the bridge. Valtore openly states that the beating of a chained and defenceless man is extream and does not follow Honorible Clan Laws, however as Targlan was named Judge it was his right to do so. In the future Valtore recommends that Targlan be unacceptible for leadership possitions until he sees that all of his actions reflect the whole of the Clan.
They do find a note left for them by the Loremaster:
"When Targlan took the Oath to join the Clan he agreed that All of the Clan Friends would be his Friends, as well as all the Clan Enemies be his Enemies. As I must do when dealing with the disgusting Malarite who is Grendal's Friend and Ally. When the Clan Laws were put down all who are part of the Clan must follow them reguardless of personal feelings or beliefs. If one does not follow Clan Law he or she is to be considered an Oath Breaker and exiled from the Clan Forever. None are above the Law not even the Thane. The Elders are able to change the Laws as long as there is a majority vote of at least three Elders. As Targlan did not become an Elder when the Laws were put down he had to follow them.
Loremaster Valtore of Ahur, Knight of the Order of the Lost Tome."
