A bit late in the day Valtore leads a small group out on patrol into the area around the camp and out a bit into the woods.

There would be the nagging feeling that they were being watched while in the woods, but otherwise there isn't much out of the ordinary aside from the occasional passing of a bird or squirrel.

Valtore and two sub-commanders (Balin of the dwarves and Tyne of the elves) walk from guard post to guard post. They warn each group of possible undead attacks. Valtore tells them of how powerful the groups were that attacked him and Celovar. He then warns them to be vigilante and also warns them that he used most of his potions while saving Arya so be prepared. Then the three of them move on to the next post. As they walk they discuss defense plans for Rimwood. They seem oblivious of those who might be watching them.

as Valtore and the two subcommanders continue their Patrol through the more secluded parts, a thick unnatural fog rises and settles over parts of Rimwood, limiting visibility to a few feet.

Balin turns to Valtore grumbling "By Clanggeddins hairy arse! what is this!?"
Tyne immediatly knocks an arrow to his Bow, whispering "Beware, we are not alone!"

Valtore draws his divine sword, it's glow dim in the fog. "Aye Balin, this be tha same shite we faced when tha undead swarmed us. Listen fur a crunchin sound. Like sum thin chewin on bown." Valtore then taps his sword, Balin's axe, and Tyne's bow with his wand of greater Magic weapon. Afterwards he pulls down his helm and readies his blue dragon scale shield.

"A fight be comin Lads prepare ye self!" He then peers into the gloom waiting for the approaching danger.

Muttering quietly to herself the Druidess would, from her camouflaged spot amongst the trees, ward herself as the fog rose and partially skewered her view of the dwarves. Something was nearby... something unnatural.

For the moment she remained where she was, listening intently for both dwarves and anything outside of their own small group.

For the moment she remained where she was, listening intently for both dwarves and anything outside of their own small group.

After Lhanir casted her wards she would notice that her True Seeing (//verified her spells being cast through a PM) would pierce right through the Fog, as it seemed to only be a Illusion.
As her sight clears, she could see Tyne clutching his neck in amazement, a little crossbow bolt potruding from it. Tyne falls to the forestfloor, no longer moving.
Balin roars as two bolts hit him as well and he squints his eyes trying to make out anything in the dense Fog, waving his axe threatingly and holding up his shield to deflect anymore incoming bolts.
Valtore would feel the sting of a bolt piercing his skin as well.

Lhanir cant see any enemies yet, she is able to hear some rustling in the trees and some bushes though.

To all other present at the scene the Fog seems very real and almost opaque.

Valtore ignores the sting in his arm as he checks on Tyne. See the bolts that fell the elf he quickly realizes his mistake. Pulling out a rod he starts casting light spells around them hoping to hit one of the attackers. He true to shield himself with his shield. "BALIN! DEFENSIVE STANDS! PROTECT YESELF FROM THA BOLTS! WE'LL TEAH THEM NOT TA MESS WITH THA IRONHOUSE!"

Lhanir's attention fell to the dwarf that had fallen, then quickly to the others as they too were struck with bolts.

As Balin and Valtore assumed a defensive stance, there was a rustling in the bushes that averted her attention, and she followed it with a swift turn of her head, looking in the direction of the sound but seeing no-one just yet. Thus she remained in place, presuming herself to still be unseen in her position and waiting for the opportune moment to react.

Should the fight turn sour, she would simply wait and pick up the pieces after, but her respect for the hardiness of dwarves prompted the assumption that they would do rather well with or without her.

As Iwean normal sight cant penetrate the thick fog he wouldnt be able to see where the Bolts came from. He could only guess a very general direction, through hearing. Unless he moved closer to the attacked patrol he woulndt even see Tyne falling to the ground.

Balin moves to Valtores side, his Shield raised hight to protect him and the fallen elf as well. A few Bolts can be heard clattering against the shield. The Dwarf would grimace again as another small bolt hits him from behind in the shoulder. "Show yerself you damned buggers!" he screams into the fog. Dropping his Axe momentarily, he kneels down and fumbles with a few vials on his belt trying to pour the content into the fallen elfs mouth with one hand and continuing to hold up the shield with the other.

Valtores lights spell brightens up the area around the besieged patrol, the visibility wouldnt increase much though.
Valtore would also feel another small sting in his right side as a bolt finds a gap in his Armor.

a few moments after Valtore casted the Lightspells some would already go out again, obviously being countered in some way.

being the only person who can pierce the Fog, Lhanir would make out movements in serveral places around the patrol at once.
She would also see some figures closing on Iwean, obviously hidden by magic.

Valtore looks down at the elf and then his dwarven cousin. Speaking quickly in dwarven "Lad grab tha elf and drink this. Tis an invisibility potion. Head back ta tha last guard post and raise tha alarm. Also take this" he hands Balin a potion and an Elder's key to the Halls " it must not be taken by them it would mean tha Halls of they got it. I give ye this last mission Lad. I will give ye a distraction" he then forces Tyne to swallow a potion after Balin has him to render him invisible. Turning in the direction of the attackers Valtore pulls out his wand of fireballs and unleashes spell after spell to give his comrades the time they need to flee.

The half-elf's attention darted about, catching sight of silhouettes moving about the final two, and a few other forms heading away towards what was likely the being who produced the entanglement spell. Facts would dictate that they were a child of nature, or simply using a scroll to cast the power.

While the dwarf made himself a distraction as his companion made an attempt to flee, Lhanir made use of a simple spell, Greater Dispel in the fogged area, hoping that it might remove the illusion of mist.

Iwean would hear the dwarven shouting and cursing ahead and the clatter of crossbow bolts on a shield.
As he casts the Wind from his bow he would notice that the fog doesnt move or react at all, obviously unreal and unnatural in its behaviour. As soon as he has his electric shield up he would see a bolt fizzle and bounce from it and another one flying very close by. He would notice that the bolts came from his left and right side.

Balin pours the potion into the mouth of the unconscious elf as Valtore speaks to him in dwarven. He opens his mouth to protest but as Valtore mentions the key to the halls he only gives him a grim nod of understanding. He accepts the potion from Valtore and gives him a look of grim aknowledgment "May the Lord of twin Axes grant you strenght!" He hoists the elf over his shoulder and gulps down the potion and vanishes from sight.

As Balin vanishes, Valtore would feel the sting of another Bolt hitting him. Valtore would now hear rustling in the bushes near him

Lhanir invoked her Nature Magic in an attempt to dispel the Illusionary fog to no avail. The fog, or rather the Magic of the Caster proved to be more powerful. As soon as she finished the spell Lhanir would spot a figure emerging from the bushes, his hands moving in the gestures of a spell Lhanir would recognize as a Mind Fog spell.
She would also see four figures with drawn swords circling the edge of the newly appeared mist.

....

Valtore would see another kind of mist rising from the ground, emerald in hue. He would feel dizzy and his vision blurred for a moment.
He would also feel a slight tingle at his side where the bolt found the gap in his armor.

Valtore shakes and blinks to try to clear his head. Knowing he has to make himself a target so his comrades can get away he points the fireball wand at the moving bush and riggers the command word. His shield lowers a bit as the poison works through his body. Time is against him, but if he can make enough noise he might alert the near by guard posts..so he yells out the Clan Battle Cry "IRONHOUSE!" as the bush goes up in flames.

Disregarding the attack on the dwarf, her brow furrows in frustration as he suddenly sets one of the bushes ablaze. With a murmur and a flick of her wrist, she evokes the spell Gust of Wind to blow out any flames likely to catch everything nearby, perhaps even knocking down any humanoids beside the bushes. She then observes the shifting of Iwean as he departs with the other pair, then back swiftly towards the assaulting group, waiting patiently for another idea and silently hoping that the dwarf would avoid using more fire.

All that seemed available now to the druidess was her spells, given that it seemed she had still gone unnoticed. With yet another gesture and murmur in a guttural language, she summoned forth a massive Phantom Bear (extended spell), directing its attention to the caster and swordsmen circling the fog before it made any attempt to lunge towards them.

His sight blurring and his side tingling with spreading poison, Valtore unleashes a Fireball in the direction of the noise. He would hear grunts of pain as the explosion sets the bushes ablaze.

Iwean wouldnt be able to see the now invisible Balin, but his Armor made more than enough noise, that he could follow the genereal direction of the retreating dwarf
He would be intercepted though by two figures in dark oiled leather armor with a black masks, one with a Handcrossbow aiming at him the other with drawn Longsword.

As the Phantom bear appears, two of the Swordmen immediatly position themselves infront of the caster. The Bear roars and charges the two Swordsmen, fletching its fangs.
The Caster unleashes a bolt of lightning at the charging bear.

.....

Valtore would now see one dark clad masked figure emerging from the fog, holding a sword dripping with a oily substance. His movements would become sluggish as he feels the poison spreading through his veins.

Lhanir would see that one figure seemed to be serverely injured by the fireball, while the others seemed engaged with the Bear. Only one was now attacking Valtore directly.

Behind the Caster, who had just fired the Lightning bolt at the bear, she would see another three figures aiming their crossbows at the fray.

Knowing the bear would make a sufficient distraction, perhaps even injuring its opponent in the process before dissipating from sustaining enough damage to its translucent form, Lhanir looks to see one last adversary beside the dwarf. His stumbling caused her to wonder of his injuries, if they were superficial and deterring, or worse and that he would not last long against the figure.

Whomever the attackers were, it was obvious that they were against the Ironhouse clan. Against the forest itself had yet to be determined, but they didn't seem to offer much hesitation upon seeing a bear lunge before them. She desired answers, which meant only one of them needed to live, and the dwarf would likely get a stern finger-wagging for his careless flame-throwing actions. Of course, for him to hear it he too would need to survive.

The druidess shifted suddenly, taking on the form of an oversized wolf with spines protruding from its back. She darted back and away from her spot, making a large half-circle through the trees to be less noticeable before emerging beside the fog and towards Valtore's opponent with teeth bared.
