PostSubject: Re: a new refugee camp    a new refugee camp - Page 3 EmptyWed Dec 18, 2013 12:22 pm

Ashton stumbles off the boat and takes a final sip from his bottle. As you replaces the cork and places it away, he rolls his shoulders and stretches his back. Seeing the bustling and busy situation, he lazily wanders around the refugee tents, chit chatting pleasantly, gauging the crowd. It certainly would do no one any good for him to sing a song of battle when a song of love was needed. Or a drinking song when a family song was needed. Or a song of despair when a song of inspiration was needed. His thoughts raced back and forth as he smiled warmly around.

Stepping from around a tent, he spots the elven woman playing and pauses, listening and stroking his beard thoughtfully.

PostSubject: Re: a new refugee camp    a new refugee camp - Page 3 EmptyWed Dec 18, 2013 2:41 pm

Neoras, waiting in the Inn for a reply from the council on other matters, notices the sudden influx of human refugees. Asking around for abit he gets a rough picture of the situation.

The architect takes the few walks around the refugee camp that seems to quickly run out of space to properly accommodate the numbers. After a few hours he can be seen by the lake between the camp and the city with his notebook and a long stick, testing the lakebed and it's depth.
Sketching and drafting he wanders around the lakeside, taking notes of all the trees' positions.

He then goes to the farmers who are currently living in tents on very little space and asks each of them to describe their home and whether they have building wood or barrels stored somewhere at home.
From all this he compiles a list with resources and their locations that he hands to those who can get things from the farms - explitely priorising empty barrels.

While they are away he gather volunteers from those farmers who look to have the most building experience around a fire and draws several schematics of large, ground-anchored and tree-tied barrel-rafts in the dirt, explaining:

"The space on land is not sufficient for you all much longer. I assume your farms will have lots of barrels that are currently unused with you being here. When they arrive we will build you some extra space to stay on the water. Not only will it allow you to have more space and easier access to water - Most enemies we can expect are unable to cross water easily.

Tie the barrels together - set a frame of wooden beams across them, add planks. Fill four barrels with stones and use them as ground-anchors on each corner of the raft. Set four masts at the corners, one in the center of the raft, and add tent-linen as roof and walls. Then tie all the rafts together and fix them to the trees on opposing lakesides."

If the farmers understand and the work picks up he'd stay on the building site for several hours at a time, organizing and improving where necessary to ensure the individual rafts are connected into a stable floating structure, testing the quality and statics of each new raft personally before letting a family move onto it instead of being split up to tents

Most of the refugees would tell Neoras that they rather want to return to their homes as their stay in the tents is supposed to be only for a few days.

Some would be interested mainly to have something to do and to escape the rather boring camp life. So a little group of woodworkers and craftsmen would gather and listen to the Sunelfs plans.

rumors spread around the refugee camp that last night there was another Vampire attack on the farms. Farmers would pester the Akh Velahr Soldiers and Knights of the Aster if any Livestock was killed or Homes damaged.

People wonder why it the Akh Velahr soldiers where withdrawn at that time...

Cleo visits all the refugee locations, dressed in his casual clothes, and enjoying his time with the families. He assures people that the ordeal should be over soon and all will be explained. He also apologizes to the orchard handlers for the poor pruning of some of their trees.

He's in somewhat decent spirits, but when he thinks no one is looking, a certain sense of worry briefly crosses his young face.

Occasionally, he clutches his left side.

The soldiers are sent back in to guard the camp, in the same numbers as before, and the protocols continue as they were.

blue brings the refugees in his care to town and lets them wonder around freely as he deals with things he has to on a normal basis. having filed his report with council thus far on what he knows as he recalls details he will add them further to the report..

he spends some time in library studying a book in private sections usualy a couple pages here and there before continuing on with his day.

tho he appears rested it was clearly not enough as he had to figure up newer prices for the tower to use and the building of it has seemed to come to a stop for the time being. materials still arrive on schedule and are stored until building resumes..

until such is under way again he has placed alarm wards in the area that sound as anyone enters or exits as a warning for many to hear.. he conciders adding this to the list of ideas for the heirs of windsong tower to use which would allow the door to stay locked at all times and only be opened when needed.

this is something that worked out for mages in shadowdale so why not use it here tho instead of elaborate traps and spell wards just a simple sound that can be heard by many and maybe a light in the sky for those far off to see a general location..

he has many thoughts and many jobs to perform and many duties to tend to.. it is a wonder he gets anything done with so much on his plate but he trudges on ever moving forward tho at what cost one has to wonder.

Over the last three or four days or so Ravossel, and Donnleen can be seen at Lathanderite Settlement.

In the early morning hours Donnleen can be seen once agin cat napping were the morning sun will warm her. As Donnleen takes her early morning nap, Ravossel can be seen tending to the horses, and spreading corn meal for the chickens, but her main focus is the horses.

Be for, and after caring for what horses need looking after, Ravossel checks the rivers, and other scores of water in and about the Lathanderite farm land, and settlement. For possible signs of taint/poison from the walking dead. (( survival 38, if allowed detect poison spell ))

Then after another lazily cat nap, and a wash, Ravossel can be seen offering aid to help reinforce the barricades. By having vines growing in, around, and over the barricades.

Asked by the Mage Araevin to help with a crucial task, Cleo couldn't go on the Keeper's expedition to stop the abductions. He meets with the Keeper and with Jay as soon as he can, though, and gets their updates. Then he issues word to the refugees that they'll need to stay in place for several more days, but that groups can be warded and taken into the Farms and Settlement under escort to deal with chores and tend to livestock.

He spends some time looking around for Mark, but doesn't find him. He does find Ashton, though, and sits down with him for a talk.

Then, finally able to take moment to rest, Cleo packs a few things and ventures to Shadowdale.

Amatria is singing a beautiful, mystical song about a flute player with a message of peace, playing her own flute inbetween the verses. She finishes off with a few soft notes from the flute, curtseys deeply and blushes a bit at any compliment or applause.

the citizens of the farms and settlement are very happy that they can at least go back to take care of their livestock..
"them cows Need to be milked daily ye know?" was the remark of one of the farmers as they were let back into the farms under guard by the elven soldiers and Knights of the Aster

some Farmers would ask the Knights and elves when they can return for good to their homes...

blue would have brought all those in his lands back to myth drannor and let them wonder around and mingle with the rest of the folk and instructed them if they wish to stay in the city they can or they can come back to his lands it is entirely up to them..

that once he was there he would wait only a few minutes before returning and those not there he would assume wanted to stay.. those that met him at the designated time would be taken back to his lands..

he would bid them a good day and safe travels before tending to business of his own..

When not meeting with lord Cathlemet or inside the barracks or visiting Rimwood construction site, the Keeper expend some time visiting the farms and adressing the soldiers, both Akh'Velahr and lathanderites, he would answer with a polite smile to any of the farmers who comment near him.

- I have faith very soon everything will return to normal again, and while we are glad you can once more take care of the livestock, we know this is not enough to bring the peace and harmony back. Pray to the gods of the alliance of goodness, and have faith you too.

having fielded a few complaints from those on his land about him smithing well into the night. blue took his work to the myth drannor shops. after a full day of smithing armors for the defenders blue hands them off to the keeper and goes to rest he misses his two trips while smithing and is late to get up the next day.

he decides to spend the morning soaking in the tub relieving his aching muscles and worn out body.. the maids and so forth bring him tea and set it to the side not approaching and only saying here is your tea and fruits m'lord before turning and exiting.

after his bath and morning food and tea he muster the strength to get dressed and run his scheduled trip for the refugees to the city.. he would tour the construction site and then head to the library for some studies..

making his way to the library to study he foregoes his normal flirtations with the librarians and just greets them normaly and heads back to a private room. where he stays until well into the after noon..

Anna appears one day on Ravossel's tail, she watches the farmers part of the day and paces the Mythal's border looking for undead at night. If asked why she is there. "Azuth's justice must fall on the mage responsible for this outrage."

As the days pass, while there is tent space available still, the architects little project goes on - were it just to provide the interested farmers with something to do.
When (if?) the materials arrive, the swimming structures would slowly take shape. Neoras would wander the building site still, now knowing most of the few workers who were interested by name and talent and would  try to incite a mutual exchange of knowledge between all of them and himself - in particular on methods of crafting or differences between elven and human architecture.

Provided enough time the small structure on the water would receive roofs of reed from the lakeside - much like the farmers barns and houses, and an elaborate system of water-distribution as common for elven houses.
Neoras would also let the structure be built around one of the large crystals within the lake and have small but bright smokeless oilfires burn near it so the light refacts and illuminates all the family parcells dimly at night.
At some point Neoras himself would move out of the Inn and onto the floating homestead isle near this crystal, often sitting into deep night with the craftsmen to invent new improvements of the isle to make the best temporary home for the farmers it could be.

When alone he can be seen studying the crystal and it's structure, and writing letters of recommendation for the craftsmen, should they ever become interested in working on the other building sites of the city.

after two tenday of Exile in the refugee camp only a few hundred feets from their homes, many Farmers start to become restless. Especially with the coming of the snow and colder temperatures.

While the Mythal protects the City from weather extremes, it still becoming uncomfortable enough that People start complaining and some citizens request to be returned to the shelter of their homes.

Noticing that the people are becoming more and more restless Karovir can be sometimes seen staying with the refugees. Most of the time he would talk to the people and tell stories. He would tell the refugees especially about the former refugees who after a year of hard training were able to do what they wouldn't have thought possible which is to get back their homes from the Zhentarim. Once again hard work would be needed and soon they will have their homes in the lathander farms back as well. Karovir also tells them that he will be there if they needed anything from him.
During one evening he can be seen gathering stones and rocks which he then starts to pile together until it looks like a small rock throne.

Cleo walks from camp to camp, starting at Lord Blue's estate, offering a hot beverage or a kind word to those he encounters. Everywhere he stops, his word to the refuges is "Soon. Soon. Dawn comes. Patience."

He moves through the city proper, stopping at the little makeshift medical tents, where those with colds or sore backs or scraped knees come for relief. He spends a little time with Sister Helene, mending the injured.

He makes it to Myth Drannor's entrance in time to hear the end of Karovir's story. He smiles at its moral, and at the passion in its delivery.

He looks out over the water and grins a little at the few hearty souls balanced on barrels and beams, making shelters.

He notes with satisfaction the winter pelts and inquires as to their origin.

He sits on a bench in front of the inn and opens a letter, now a few days old and already a little torn from multiple foldings and unfoldings. He reads the letter again, mouthing the names it contains:

Shadowdale
Julia
Aerandir
Varanda
Bryanna

He removes a bit of charcoal from a pouch and adds more names:

Laura
Akane
Sophia
Dinendal

He chews his lower lip a moment, looking around the encampment. He writes:

Karovir
Eilcaryn
Neoras

Then, out of room, he turns the letter and keeps writing, the names forming quickly on the page:

Jay
Nadin
Lord Blue
Ravossel
Mark
Celovar
Ashton
Amatria
Valtore
Valerie
Leo Lyon

When the list is done, he smiles down at it, regarding it for a long moment. He closes his eyes and lifts his face to the mid-morning sky. Then he regards it again.

"So many to thank," he mutters. "But how?"

After the battle agenst the walking dead has ended. Ravossel and Donnleen spend the rest of the night, and well into the flowing day aiding in healing the wound (( heal skill 26 )), trying her best to make use of what healing supplies there are, and even use moats of what she has in stalk. which includes 36 potions cure critical wounds, 38 potions of vigor, 14 +10 healing kits, and then if needed 8 raise dead scrolls, and a potion of raise dead.

Once every thing is dun that can be dun, Ravossel, Donleen make there to a near by fire pit that's still burning, and just claps near it. Any that happen to walk past can easly make note that the blue robes of the female elf is badly tattered and heavly stained with dryd blood, and the Tiger Donnleen looks no better. Chunks of fur missing, while sections are badly matted by cake blood. The pair spend a very long time asleep.

After a long journey to Myth Drannor with Cleophus, Hezakia offers to spend time amongst the refugees of the settlement and teach the people a few simple tricks and tactics in survival skills to help them to better deal with their current hardships.  He goes over fire building and how to properly maintain a fire.  He spends time also helping the people to better keep their tents warm with additional insulation that nature abundantly provides.  The purifying of water is also covered during his visits and at all times he makes sure he keeps things simple and usefull to the situation at hand.  If needed he is also willing to spend additional time making sure those who can't quite grasp something or are in need of help receive it by either his own hands or by forwarding the request to someone else.

((Hezakias relative stats are are a 13 survival skill, 8 lore, 10 diplomacy,10 heal, 10 listen, 10 spot, 10 search and a 14 in Int, Wis, and Cha.))

the Mornmaster makes his way to the refugee camp with the Coronal at his side.

"my dear friends, the work is done, her grace and the high mage have completed the ritual. Our Farms and Settlement are now protected by the Mythal like the rest of the City. Your homes are once again safe.. safer than ever before and this day will mark a new beginning for us all."

the Coronal steps forward after the Mornmaster has finished.

"My heart is filled with Joy and warmth to see this day finally Happening. The Dream of a unified Myth Drannor were all races can live together in harmony now seems near completed. I feel honored to see such wonderful and hard working people striving for the same goal as my kin. We all will know a new age of prosperity.
But we cannot Forget the new threat that has arisen at our doorstep. The Mythal will protect as but we will not sit behind its borders and watch the vile creatures defile our lands. You have my word you will be safe."
