| It was a fine bright day with the sun in the Toril sky, with occasional clouds casting cool shadows that drifted across the crossroads , mixing with shadows of trees. Tinkling of the river mixed softly with the breeze gave a soothing tone . Dressed in a hooded robe that glows lightly, a woman comes to the door of the Academy. Her face clearly visible yet shaded, locks of her golden hair tumbled down the front of her robe over shapes of her bosom. Firmly she knocks on the door. If any answer , she tells them , "Greetings fellow Dalelander, I have come at the agreement of Gran Nefson , to study texts and tombs of the Red Knight, the lady attending to Tempus , the goddess of Strategy. I seek to become dedicated to her and her wisdom... I am Elektra Mystria... "

| She follows Calkin, gazing at all the shelves and books along the way. Just the sheer volume of knowledge around her was exciting. She thought to herself " If only a person eat a book a day and know what it said ... " The statues of various deities intrigued her, each suggesting an entire way of life and thought. This was a place inspiring awe. Finally coming to the section of deities , she smiles eagerly as Calkin shows her the tombs of ghe Red Knight. She reached into her purse and offers Calkin a stack of gold coin in appreciation. Whether the gold is taken or not , she sits and opens the first book she has and begins to look into the pages... Not just for words but for wisdom.... For some she had well heard and known since childhood... And now... It was coming alive to her ...her heart jumped as she smiled.

| - Dogma:
- Quote :
- War is won by those with the best planning, strategy, and tactics, regardless of the apparent odds. Any fool can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with fortune's aid. Only a master strategist can ensure lasting victory. War is a series of battles. Losing a battle does not necessarily indicate the war is lost. Seek out your opponent's weaknesses and recognize your own; avoid an opponent's strengths and play to your own. Only by focusing one's own strengths on the opponent's vulnerabilities can triumph be ensured. In times of war prepare for peace; in times of peace prepare for war. Seek out your enemy's enemies as allies, and be prepared to compromise. Life is an endless series of skirmishes with occasional outbreaks of war. Be ready -- and have a contingency plan.
- Introduction:
- Quote :
- The Red Knight, also known as "Lady of Strategy" and "Grandmaster of the Lanceboard", is deity of strategy, planning, and tactics. She is depicted as a dark haired woman in red plate armor who wields a longsword called Checkmate. She is elevated to godhood by Tempus, who she looks to as a father figure. Knowing her real name gives power over her, so only Tempus knows of it. She is an ally of Torm and Valkur, and an enemy of Garagos and Cyric.
Members of the Red Fellowship serve in armies throughout the Realms. Many are high-ranking commanders, often of elite squads. Others are well-respected instructors in war colleges in kingdoms throughout the Realms. A few are quartermasters skilled at obtaining and maintaining supply lines over hostile territory. Quite a few priests of the Red Knight have authored tomes on military strategy.
When not on duty, priest of the Red Fellowship are known for their love of gaming. Although they avoid games of chance that require the smile of Lady Luck more than the brilliance of the Red Knight, priests of the faith strive to constantly improve their skills in abstract games of all sorts to further challenge their development of parallel lines of thought and new stratagems and to sharpen their ability to read an opponent's intentions.
- Rituals:
- Midwinter day wrote:
- On Midwinter Day the Red Fellowship observed the Retreat. This solemn ceremony consisted of an assembly wherein the clergy discussed the previous year's campaigns. Strategies were discussed, battles analyzed, and the accumulated lore integrated into the church's teachings
- The Queen's Gambit wrote:
- On the 1st of Tarsakh, the clergy of the Red Knight held an annual festival called the Queen's Gambit. During this day-long extravaganza, the Red Fellowship unwound with feasting and gaming. Day-long tournaments of chess (also known as lanceboard, hence the Red Knight's second title, "Grandmaster of the Lanceboard") were held, with the tournament victors receiving recognition, titles of merit, promotions, and occasionally a gift from the temple armory.
- Spellbook:
The first forty pages of the book describe military formations, group fighting tactics, and advice for dealing with enemy war strategies. Given that the author is talking about dozens if not hundreds of troops in formation, most of this information isn't particularly useful to a typical small adventuring party. The last few pages describe two divine spells often used by members of the church of the Red Knight. These spells are considered unusual spells, and any spellcaster who wishes to use them must first decipher them. - Checkmate's light wrote:
- You surround your weapon with a bright red aura that illuminates an area equal to a torch. This aura gives the weapon a +1 enhancement bonus and the axiomatic property, and any creature within the radius of its full light (including you) gets a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects.
If the weapon leaves your grasp, the aura immediately disappears (and its associated effects pause), though it appears again (and its effects resume) if you or another worshiper of your deity picks it up. Time that passes while the spell's effects are suspended counts against the spell's duration.
This spell is named for the Red Knight's personal weapon, Checkmate.
The spell has no affect on natural weaponry. - Telepathic Aura wrote:
- You can mentally communicate with all allies within range, though this is one-way communication. (You can send thoughts but you cannot receive thoughts in response.) Anything you choose to send is received by all allies within the emanation (you cannot send thoughts to only certain allies), and they all understand you regardless of language. Allies with Intelligence lower than 3 (such as animal companions, certain monster cohorts, and so on) understand basic commands but not complex information ("attack" is understood, but "ignore the foot soldiers and attack the spellcasters" gets the same reaction as "attack").
This spell normally is used to broadcast orders to officers or large numbers of troops when silence is key or when the chaos of combat makes it difficult to hear those orders.
Price: 450 gp (cleric spellbook value only). A buyer interested in warfare and tactics would pay up to 100 gp for the book just on its value in that field; a Chessentan buyer of this kind would offer up to 100 gp more for the privilege of owning a book written by a War Hero of Chessenta (plus an additional 100 gp if the buyer is from Cimbar). The temple of the Red Knight in Cimbar is willing to pay 1,100 gp for the book, either in coin, masterwork weapons or armor, or temple services (including mercenary work by soldiers of the faith). Other temples of the Red Knight would generally offer 700 gp for it, and the church of Tempus would pay up to 500 gp for it so that they could turn it over to the Red Knight's church.

| Tears well up in Elektra's eyes as she reads the words and wisdom long lost to her over the chaos of her years. She looked up from the pages and muttered some of the teachings of her youth "Fixed fortifications are proof of stupidity" " it does no good to die for god , king or country ... The idea is to make the other guy DIE FOR HIS !" " The greatest difference between a powerful army led by fools and a grave yard is time." "While fear of an unused weapon may be greater than the weapon itself... An unused weapon kills no one." "Fighting for Peace is like frakken for virginity " "A leader of war must master both Order and Chaos" " The best laid plans of mice and men will often go astray... And the best laid hands of the nicest men will also go astray." With this whispered out with her eyes closed, she then refocused on her study .

| *As day's became nights, Gran continues to work in the summoning room but Calkin informs him that Elektra is here studying in the library, he then would take sometime to see her and letting her know if she needed anything further that he would be available* | |

| *after Gran leaves the summon room, Calkin uses some moments to analyse the setup of equipment and devices, every now and then he gently adjusts some of the settings to increase the likelihood of a successful experiment. Then he looks over the theories presented on the blackboard, he makes a single small correction and then leaves the room again* | |

| Eye getting tired and her mind cluttered , she looks away from her book and stretches her arms wide. . . and it seems time to take a walk. . . so. .Elektra does get up and looks around. she does notice the curious scribbles on the black board. Her mind is instantly captivated and her curiousity is peaked. . . She studies the interesting set of of devices. .. having recently seen curious work done on her House by the river by some rather clever gnomes. . . . She seeks to get a feel of what this all is . . . . | |

| She turns to face Calkin, a bit surprised by both being spoken to, as well as the question itself. After clearing her throat into her hand, she nods her head while glancing back at the curious device. "Mysteries ... Can be no more than simple truths that not all the parts are seen... As I can't understand what this device is... But if it pops out a tastey muffin, it would all make sense.... ... Steve... As I know, may also be known as Stephan the Conquorer... A name on a bounty notice tacked up at my house. I see and have seen parts, but do not know the fullness of it.... However ... The parts themselves say a great deal. This man, if that is what he really is... Has managed to gather, motivate and control three widely varied races ... Into a single fighting force that has come against us repeatedly. Now, tell me... What , how, or who can unite Corrupted Beastmen, Orcs and Drow? ... That would be quite a muffin , yes?" | |

| "so which type of muffin do you prefer? blueberries or chocolate? I might be capable to bring some ingredients to the baking. There are mainly two options for baking such cakes. First option is a carrot the second is a whip. The first option is reward the second is punishment. Those are the only two tools a leader can use. So which is it? the carrot or the whip? what reward or punishment would he be able to give them?" | |

| She grins with a slight giggle as her mind quickly envisions the ideas coming to life. "Lets assume this is one incredible baker... Who likely has an oven like few others.... I can only imagine one way to get ingredients even more different than oil and water to mix so well together.... Pretty sure carrots don't do that ... Well , not the ones in Moonshaes , anyways. Ok, then ... Aahhm.... I shall have to vote for the whip." She grins wide, nodding her head, going deeper in thought ... | |

| She ponders a moment, then giggles with a slight blush... " are you... Ahm... maybe.... suggesting that a carrot master might REPLACE the Whipmaster ?... Like , some kind of change of leadership?...." She pauses looking on with a slight grin ... waiting for a reply. | |

| *his smiles widen* "yes indeed!" *then pauses* "history teaches us of such disruptive actions that changes the mindset of people" *he walks over to the bookshelf and picks out a few history books for her* "in order to find out what can be used as a carrot, we need to analyse the current situation, what are the needs of the individual humanoid in the army, what are they longing for, what is the strength of their current leadership. What is their best alternative to a no deal? which opportunities will that give us?" | |

| She watches him as he gathers the books and speaks as if a plan were actually in the making... A smile creeps across her face as she quickly raises her hand to arranger her hair to hide it... In a low voice she answers him... " taking charge of such powerful and diverse forces.... Oowell now... Might be considered by some as.... Nefarious ... Hmmm...Spurious.... Even out right Dastardly ...not to mention insidiously twisted and utterly brilliant..... I mean such a person could get banned from Myth Drannor....Shadowdale... Meetings of the Chauntean Sewing Circle... Kinda like .... I ... Already AM !" She shifts her weight and leans in closer and says very low. "Please do go on. You have my full attention". | |

| OOC- We had a "Stephanous hunt " a few days back. We think we took him down, but a Dm could always bring him back. Do you know if he is still a viable issue ?) | |

| After a time of discussion, Elektra receives a message to report to the HOR as signs of the dreaded Stephanous have been spotted . "Please forgive me, my duty calls me... I suspect we will be crushing this villain before any other plans can be discussed. But... Beyond that... I still seek to find the deity RedKnight, as I know well of her wisdom and its value in my future as leader of the jurisdiction of Misty Falls and the HOR... I shall return to know more. I thank you endlessly for your help and we welcome you into the HOR and our library... Be well, be strong, and let none cast shadow upon your path." With that, she turns to go... | |
