Preparations In the Farmlands

Bryanna had initially thought to head out into the wilderness around Shadowdale when she finally came to that morning, thinking she could find those able to sense the creatures to work with her in getting people out of Shadowdale. After all, she knew the weak points in the guard patrols, and was a familiar face that could help calm and organize the survivors in their evacuation.

These thoughts were dashed as she reached the landing on the far side of the river. Azzelas was standing outside of the gate, his first comment on the bounty of her head making her realize how mildly foolish her impulses were. Talking with the others present she learned Cleo, Jonah, and even Mark were hard at work organizing the evacuations, making her give silent thanks to Nobanion that there were so many willing to step forward and use good sense in such a time of need.

After a short while of contemplation, she spoke with Imesah to inquire if anyone was organizing a place for the refugees that surely would be coming to camp in the Lathandarite lands. Being told this wasn't the case Bryanna deemed she'd found her current niche, providing the people she serves with a place to come to and a familiar leader to reassure them.

Imesah and her set to work, gathering tools and volunteers to assist as they "mowed" down the tall fallow fields of standing grass, making sure the long lengths of grass were bundled so it could be used as bedding later and eventually plowed into the ground when it was emptied one again and planting could take place. Setting the stage for further preparations.

Imesah leaves to go get some tools and volunteers for the work ahead and runs into Aerandir.

The group works for several hours and is joined by Gerard Karswind who joins in on the work. They cut the grass and pile it so that it can be bundled and used as bedding later.

As day breaks Imesah heads off to get some more volunteers to help with the cutting and bundling of grass. If that work is completed she helps with the setting up of tents and other things for refugees.

Bryanna, Gerard and Aerandir work to finish clearing the field, the process taking a few more hours.

Returned from other labors, Cleo looks in on the preparations and greets those who are working diligently to prepare things. Assured that preparations are going well, as they should be, since the people here were all-too-accustomed to either hosting or being refugees, Cleo moves along to other tasks.

He speaks to Szuldas about provisions, noting that the untouched food from last night's poorly attended festival can now become provisions for refugees, and that the tents and and shelters from the festivities can now become first aid and provisioning stands. He watches, sadly but thankfully, as the signs of revelry become objects of refuge.

He then organizes Helene and the other priests and acolytes, to move among the new arrivals, offering welcoming smiles, food, water, and any medical care that might be needed.

For his part, Cleo seems to pay special attention to any broken families...widows, widowers, orphans, or those who have lost children. He offers them quiet shelter over by the future site of the Selune tower, away from the hustle and bustle. There, he offers them his time, his ear, and his compassion.

When he gets a break, he looks in on Ahri and her young charge.

Bryanna notes the number of refugee's entering the makeshift camp and begins to check in with each of the families arriving. She attempts to get a good count of how many are present, project how much more space is going to be needed, and what their basic needs are that are going to have to be met.

To do this she calls a meeting of the family heads outside of her own small tent in the field. One may notice the lower edge of her tent has small bells sewn into the material all the way around it, resulting in small chimes as Bryanna comes and goes.

Imesah coordinates with Bryanna to make sure that enough tents, space, food and water, etc. are available for everyone. She gives orders for a couple of guards to walk through the camp to keep things civil. If there are any issues she tries to attend to them herself.

Cleo would mostly find Ahri and the little one sleeping or resting. Ahri does not go far from her charge, and if she does leave for a brief moment, she leaves her Hare to watch her.

Returning after the battle outside Shadowdale, Bryanna evades the refugees to go further up river. Once she's in a peaceful area on her own her resolve which had held her through the battle and journey finally breaks as she weeps. Stripping down and falling into the river with a plume of bloody water around her.

She sobs as she almost hysterically tries to scrub away the blood of Shadowdale's dead militiamen from her body and hands, mourning the falling men to the point of sickness as she vomits. She'd killed many things now, she'd even killed humans before... but never before had she had to cut down faces she knew, never before had she had to cut down people she'd served and worked to protect.

Eventually having cried herself out in her privacy, cursed Julia liberally for sparking the situation, and cleaned herself up... she dresses again giving prayer to Nobanion before returning to the refugees. Once there she finds an elder among the people with a good head on their shoulders to be responsible for a few days, and she once again makes her way to the smiths before heading out of the city again.
