| ((Takes place after the event with in shadowdale))
After what may have seemed like two days of tracking the rabbits tracks that started within Shadowdale and eventually lead to Cormanthor Forest, Talonairos an elven Ranger finally seems to slow his descent with in the forest. He looks around observing the other tracks and taking notes on the different types of tracks as well as observing the other animals with in the region. He can't help but feel a bit on edge as he observes the other animals which also seem a bit on edge with in the Cormanthor Forest.
"Something has upset the animals here."
He murmurs to himself as he continues to observe the animals searching for any others with the same symptoms as the rabbit he had left in the care of Alexander. He was clearly a bit perplexed as well as disturbed unsure of what could cause an animal to have its eyes just popped out and clumps of fur just fall out, no trauma or magic was found on the rabbit.
"Perhaps some sort of deviltry or witchcraft that the dales is not familiar with? Or disease?"
A soft sigh escapes his lips as he moves about slowly taking in everything that he can, whatever it was he couldn't help but assume the worst and that this was only the beginning.
((Note: He is walking about quietly to remain as undetected as he can by the creatures to observe them but his base Hide and Move Silently at the time are only 22 so he should be easy to spot for those who wish to join))

| Elsewhere in the Dales, Alexander had brought the sickly rabbit to the Druid Grove, so it may be looked at further and possibly healed of it's affliction.

A raven that sits on the branch of an oak tree watches Talonairos with large, piercing eyes. It makes no noise. Just watches. After a while, it flies off into the sky where it can no longer be traced. Tracks of all sorts of creatures are found. The rabbit's own tracks sporadically change with it's obvious trouble with vision. The area itself feels particularly off. Not as if a magical energy, but more that the trees and land itself is uneasy. - dak12attack wrote:

The rabbit has no eyes in it's sockets. There are no injuries to it whatsoever. No blood, no broken bones. Curiously, it's fur is falling out bit by bit. Any attempts to heal this poor creature fail. It does not seem in pain, it just looks utterly horrible. It spends it's time hopping around adorably, every now and then running into another animal or tree. However, with time, it will likely be able to get around without much trouble.

| As Milo travels into the Cormanthor to cull back the dire wolf population, he feels the land's sense unease. He stops in his tracks to kneel to the ground and run a hand through the soil. He pulls up a a handful and sniffs it, trying to detect the presence of any unnatural beings. He diverts his course to the Elven camp where he speaks with the Ahk'Velahr commander.
"Greetings, Jastra. I've no doubt that you too feel this strange disturbance taking over the creatures of this wood. Have you seen or heard anything out of the ordinary?" |

All the animal tracks are normal, save for one set that has seem to be very recent. It looks to be a deer's tracks, but oddly they make it appear as if the animal would have five legs. Only by following the tracks to the animal would reveal whether or not this to be true. Plant life seems fine, though druids themselves would feel that the trees are oddly 'quiet'. As if a quiet before a storm. - Fincaen Londrulen wrote:

| Talonairos continues to scan the area quietly moving about to the best of his extent until he stumbles upon Ravossel and her trusted companion Donnleen. He quickly lowers himself watching the pair as he slinks into some brush observing the two. If they would move any he would stay with in the brush and watch them curiously though his top priority would be to observer Ravossel for equipment and any religious affiliation as well as hers and Donnleen's tracks.
"Now what could they be up to I wonder. Perhaps the cause of this blight?"
He murmurs to himself quietly looking around the pair incase they have brought along any other "friends".

Easy there my friends, *Ravossel says in Druidic* some this wrong here, can any of you guid the two of us? The more we know the more we can help.

| After the encounter with Ravossel that shortly took place (IG), Talonairos had wandered off deeper into the forest looking around for signs now of a "Five legged deer" as Ravossel had explained to him. He continued along following the tracks heading where ever they may take him from time to time he would stop and watch the other animals and the "deformities" that had spread amongst the populace noting how many creatures actually were blighted, what kind of creatures, the general region of the woods, and what kind of deformities they had.
"This is most perplexing."
He murmurs to himself as he continues to go about gathering the information whilst on the search for this elusive "five legged deer". At times he would stop and pluck a berry or two or even some sort of edible vegetable and store it with in his pack after jotting down where it was plucked from and what it was, even if he couldn't figure out what it was he was sure perhaps an skilled alchemist or priestess of Chauntea at the House of Plenty might be able to figure it out.

| Eventually Talonairos would come to find the poor creature. It indeed has an extra leg, and walks around with it, seemingly unaware that it has grown an extra limb.
The other animals seem fine. They have no visual, eye-catching deformities. They are paranoid of something, it seems, but what it is, remains yet to be revealed.

| Once seeing the five legged deer he would quite literally do a double take, obvious a bit dubious and dumbstruck. He was only humoring Ravossel but to actually see the creature was an entirely different story. He would quickly seek shelter amongst the surrounding brush and observe the creature for some time. More particularly the fifth leg he was trying to assess the extent of the leg for its usefulness and an estimation of the length of the leg, more or less also trying to come to a conclusion as to how long this leg had actually been in place on the deer to give him a more or less time frame of the deformity.
"By the gods what could be causing such monstrosities amongst the woodlands here."
Talonairos murmurs to himself quietly. After some time of observing the deer he would attempt to approach it slowly and extending his right hand out towards the deer so that it could get his scent, which would smell of the woods itself mingled with a few herbs and leather. If he was allowed to get with in ten feet of it he would stop and slowly hold up his left hand palm facing the deer as he would begin to speak softly in a soothing tone in Sylvan, as to not startle the deer or scare it away letting it chose to come to him if it wanted.
"I mean you no harm. I am only here to help."

| The leg doesn't look too useful. Every now and then, the deer places a bit of weight on it, but nothing too substantial. It seems more vestigial. The leg is just somewhat shorter than it's other limbs. Considering it's vestigial and the deer doesn't pay it much mind, determining a time frame is impossible.
Upon Talonairos getting near it, it does what most deer do when approached. It just bolts off into the forest.

The Druidess then slowly closes her eyes, as she focuses her mind on her soundings. (( Concentration base of 26 )) Ravossel focuses on the live force, and the feelings of the trees, and the land as a whole. As Ravossel focuses she Speaks vey softly to the land, and the tree in Druidic.* "In Druidic " guid me to the place of your fears, show me your fears, so that I can help you. *Donnleen lays down next to Ravossel, as she her thing keeping watch. | As the deer bolts Talonairos just sighs watching it run off and cursing his stupidity.
"Moron, what where you thinking?"
He grumbles to himself as he looks down to the tracks and follows them into the woods, his determination setting in again, only this time he decides to take another approach if he can find the deer. He moves from what cover he can find as he follows the tracks for awhile until deciding to climb up a tree and move about through the trees for better cover and an aerial view of the surrounding area.
"This time I think I'll just observe and see where it leads me."
He mutters to himself as he moves about as silently as he can through the trees following the tracks in hunt of the deer.

| Once he found the Deer he would perch up on one of the branches and just observe the deer in a lazy fashion having an uncanny obsession with the five legged deer. He would just follow it through the trees whenever it moved and casually observe any of the other wildlife that was around checking for any further creatures with deformities. Even if his investigation was going no where he still felt more at home with in the woods then any where else, regardless of the tension in the air. | |
