PostSubject: a refugee camp at two forts   a refugee camp at two forts EmptySat Aug 09, 2014 7:12 pm

one day after the fall of Freehaven a group of about fifity refugees from Freehaven arrives at Fort Hope.

Led by Waukeenar priests and a few remaining Fiery Eagle Mercenaries, they converse with the leaders of Fort Hope for a time and then begin to set up a camp near the Fort.

The morale of the survivers, mostly merchants and some free citizens, but none of them slaves, is very low and many wonder where to turn to next...

A male elf heads out to the camp to pay the clergy of his faith a visit.

"Hello, brothers and sisters of the Golden Lady. I am Sirilmar, a merchant from Myth Drannor. If there is anything I can do to aid you all, you have but to ask. I have medical supplies and potions that I could part with, if needed."

Cruven observes the gypsy camp from atop his eastern wall. He watches them for a good while just observing their actions.

Eleiryanna hovers at the edge of the camp, making no attempts to hide, but skirting the edges, peering at the merchants. She searches the faces of the merchants, seeking to recognize if any were trade partners that her House had past dealings with.

the young Investor Tellin would approach the elf with a smile on his face

"Ah my friend, so good to see a fellow faithful of the Merchants Friend in these dire times... Can i offer you some wine maybe? our selection is very limited these days but we still treat visitors as good as we can!
In fact there is a lot you can do... our dear faithful here, most of them merchants who worship the Merchant Friend, have lost nearly everything. All of the freeman here dont have any homes left, and they had to leave most of their personal belongings behind.
Every help you can lend us is appreciated, to help us give them a new chance and to start anew or continue their businesses.
A big challenge lies before us... but Waukeen has seen to our survival so far!"

The elf rubs his chin, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

"I thank you for the wine, but I must decline. However, this could be a wonderful chance at beginning a brand new merchants' quarter. You see, I suffered a similar fate myself. I lost all of my wealth, my belongings, my home...you all have my sympathies."

He shifts his weight to his other foot, and places his hands on his hips. He lifts his head a bit with his lips pursed before speaking.

"I propose we make this a joint venture to see what we might do to create a thriving economic sector. I spend much of my time hiring adventurers to aid me as I quest for rare and unique artifacts, weapons, and other such valuable trinkets. With the riches I gain there, perhaps an investment of sorts can be made."

"Think on this and let me know your answer. In the mean time, I will fetch what supplies I have and bring them here. Until next time, my friend, may fortune favor."

The elf hurries off without giving the man much time to reply.

the Investor watches Sirilmar leave and see the grumpy Hector approaching.

"Yes my friend, we are the few lucky survivors. Our Lady Waukeen deemed us worthy to give us another chance to earn a better place on the eternal markets of Brightwater!
Come and sit with me if you like, i have some wine i traded with our friends from Fort Hope.."

*Crypto approached the camp (likely a day or two after the elf visits) just back from a mining expedition and the looting of cave orcs nearby. He's pleasantly surprised to see new folks to trade with... perhaps they give better deals on the less powerful items he's found than the Cormyrian Michelle inside the fort.*

Well hello good folk. I had heard some of the Freehaven'ers had escaped before the unfortunate falling of the town and set up camp here. I had hoped some of you would have come to the House of Redemption, who's name is not unfamiliar to your former town. Perhaps my letters were lost in the mayhem. In any case, I will personally extend an invitation for any of you to come to our keep... where trade, and honest work, and merriment abound.

We have room for a few families to camp within the safety of our walls, we have a modest, yet awe inspiring shrine to Lady Waukeen in our front tavern... open to all to pay homage to... and we are in need of laborers, commission traders, and guards and will pay more than fairly for such.

The undead scourge that have robbed you of your homes and livelihoods have not yet won. Our House and many others are adamantly trying to seek ways to crack their grip on the north and rid us of their blights and their foul minions forever. Solidarity is what will win this.

*He points out on a map of where the keep is*

If any of you should like to come and stay a while, speak now or send a letter later. I will gladly offer you armed escorts to see you there safely. *he cordially puts his hand on his chest* I am Crypto, Headmaster of the guild and halls. And I might even be able to arrange for you more permanent and structurally sound quarters than these tents. As luck would have it, a construction company is toiling away on our defenses as we speak.

Now then *shrewd businessy smile*

How much will you give me for these trinkets.

*In the event Crypto and Cruven happen to be at this two forts refugee camp at the same time, as Crypto now frequents this merchant regularly.*

"Ah Commander... long time. Congratulations on your promotion in Shadowdale. Would you be able to carve out some time to speak with me for about 10 or 20 minutes? It actually has to do with these refugee's and the putrid army that uprooted them."

After a few days one of Freehaven's slave dancers, called Ticla appears at the camp with supplies for the poor refugees who are at the camp. Quietly she hands out food and blankets where needed, from the gold Rayna gave her a few days ago.

After that task Ticla sits quietly on a matrass in the camp, weary and tired of her day long journey in the daggerhills. Now uncertain of her future, not knowing what may become of her, being a slave from Freehaven. But at least she cared for the needfull. Illmater be praised.

The Refugees are very grateful for any support Ticla can provide and she would see some well known faces from Freehaven among them.. most of them Merchants for who she often has danced for in the various establishment of the trading settlement.

While it was busy in the refugee camp at night, with whispers and sounds of those asleep resounding in perfect harmony, one odd sound was heared however. The soft, and barely noticable steps of a slave approaching the Tent of the Merchants. While she was hesitant to approach that tent out of fear of facing her masters, this slavegirl brought a message worthy to be delivered at this late hour.

a refugee camp at two forts Ticla_bringing_mesage_web

Though the moonlight was dim, and colors obscured, this night the light of the moon did make Ticla's green eyes shine brightly and her typical Blue and Yellow ribbons on her shoulders were colors bright upon her otherwise so dull looking Slave rags she always wore.

"Your humble servant Teek-la, Milords.. and bringing a message.." She gasped out of breath. Clearly she had been running for quite a while.

"The... Honored White Knight of the Misty falls wishes to speak with you, Masters," Ticla adresses the Merchant with her well known respect and she rolls the Parchment open slightly further, eyes narrowing upon the words that were written on it.

"The Honored White Knight expresses good will of the Mistress of the Misty Falls to you all, masters.. They are seeking your help in the new future that will bring you wealth and confortable life .. Once again."

Ticla rolls up the parchment and presents it to the Merchants, while she bows to them in respect before departing to her sleeping mat in the Refugee camp.

The Potion Merchant would Approach Ticla...

"who is this White Knight? i never heard of someone of that title before? One of them fancy do- gooder Paladins who always ruin business?"

Quickly shaking her head in denial, Ticla adresses the potion merchant with respect.

"The white knight of the misty falls also goes b-by the name Red Bird. Not a Paladin from my own experiences, I can assure you.."
