| "HORk, my friend !. . .Please . . .perhaps you can lend that wall of muscle to help us." , she would call out to him, in her celestial form. " During the rains, its the perfect time to upturn the soil as deep as we can go, to let the water dissolve away the salt. We just need to work this one field and just the area we can do effectively. This going to be a test area for us to plant, assuming we can get this done well enough." | |

| Justin walks by the field being plowed and stops. He locates Elektra and approaches her.
"Good work, Mage Emerald."
"I was raised on a farm. If I may offer a bit of advice, try to plow the furrows around the contours of the land. Near the river, try to plow so that the furrows slow but don't stop the water drainage. This will allow soil to settle out before the water carries the dissolved salt away. By doing this you will minimize soil loss while still removing the salt."
"I'm glad to see you trying a method that could turn the bad weather to our advantage."
He watches for a while, then gives her a quick smile and returns to town.

| Before he leaves, she would take his advice and explain it to Hork as well.
Then she would address Justin. "The rain is a blessing for this project, but once it stops, I can see that we need a way to keep the plowed areas wetted as well as design drainage. When you were on the farm, did you have any devices that would use river water to wet the fields,"

| Justin replies.
"We did not, no. The farm was far to the north of here, up-river from Luskan. We could rely on rain; even if it was scarce, there was always enough. Sometimes only just, but always enough."
"I have heard of and read about such devices, though. As I recall, many of them were simple to construct. They would require much labour to operate, though. Perhaps your library or the one in Myth Drannor would have more information."

| "Well , yes, I read of something that uses the flow of the river to work a thing that moves water up and dumps it into a system of ditches or pipes for irrigation. I am thinking we need advice and experience of a gnome tinker. Ya know any ? " | |

| "No. But you might ask Sordoc. He may know of someone."

| "Aaah , I shall. With all the research I have looked at and started, it seems that there are two paths to removing the salt. One is fire, and the other is water. I could propose that we use the fields as a place to burn garbage and old and unused wood , but with all the rain and a river here, we might as well use what we have. Any suggestions?" | |

| Elektra keeps studying the bank and the river into the night. She looked to the hulking earth elemental as its siloette blocked out the stars. "Hmmm. . why not use you for something else needed. . .", she pondered, her eyes squinting, just before a few hand gestures and a whisper led to a globe of light settling on the massive figure. "Ahh. .nice.", she thought to herself, as the large summoned cast light all around. Unexpectedly, this attracted attention of some making the rounds on patrol of the river. As either fate might intervene, or deities at play, it would never be known, but the patrolman was . . . a gnome. A discussion followed about what was going on here, and who. Not long after, Elektra pressed for possible information about her goals for the fields. | |
