I’m sorry to say, but I’m going to have to put a stop to this event. It has gotten to the point where this event is keeping me from DMing, and it’s no longer something healthy for the server. I have attempted to rewrite this event about 5 to 6 times, to make it fit the changing structure of our server. (DMs moving around, different DMs joining in, and leaving. Plot points changing, Player times, and interactions, ect.) I just can’t do it. Every time I’ve gotten it ready to have the next group have a session something has undercut it. Be it my own time, or someone elses. I could possibly finish it by myself, but I have a feeling it would burn me out for good, and I don’t see that as something conducive to the server.
I don’t like not finishing things, it really aggravates me. Call it a pet peeve. Which is probably why I’ve driven it into the ground to try and make this work. However, due to my persistence I can’t do the events a lot of people have asked for me. It has taken up most of my DMing energy just sitting in my apartment trying to find a way to make it work with what I have, the schedules I have and the schedules the rest of you have. It’s actively stopped me from taking on requests and events, as many of you know.
I’m also uncomfortable with the thought that some of you are getting seriously cut off of something others have gotten. It isn’t fair that your being left out because you were further down the line that those in the beginning. I’m trying to think of a way to remedy this. My main idea, is to simply keep the groups as is, and then systematically run separate events, not tied down by the restrictions this event has, and give each of you a ‘turn.’
I do plan to keep the NPCs that we gained along the way. Perhaps I will take it all in another direction that is not so restrained by the current way it is set up.
What do you think? I’m open for suggestions.
