A letter and small chest addressed to the black market

The letter is written in masterful penmanship, rigid and practiced, though lacking any elegance or flair. The chest, however, is ornate in its construction; the wood is dark mahogany, the hinges are gold, and the front of the lid is plated in gold with an inlaid piece of onyx carved into the shape of a single flame.

The letter reads:

To the procurer of the Zhentarim's trade goods,

I am writing to inquire about the availability of two substances. The first is a cosmetic called "thaebra," a dark-blue paste used on the skin to remove dyes and in the hair to bleach it white. The second is known as "maeraede," an oil that is ingested to purge the body of parasites, poisons, and the like.

Accompanying this letter should be a chest, the content of which is a small donation of gold numbering one thousand pieces in total, for the market to spend as is seen fit, for the betterment of the Zhentarim and the extension of the Dread Lord's tyranny over the land.

You may send correspondence with your reply to my room in the courtyard inn.

Several long weeks pass without reply, as one might expect when writing someone super-important. Eventually, an unsigned reply is left with the inn-keep. It reads:

You are likely to find both items you seek in small quantities within the Black Market's arcane wares stall. Unfortunately, due to grass-fires in the Shaar and low water levels in the swamps surrounding the Inner Sea this past year, these substances are in short supply, and supply-demand economics require that they only be made available at a premium. I advise against attempting to cleanse one's insides and out simultaneously, as cross-contamination may remove more than dyes and leave hair very thin indeed.
