Many of us are very lore centric, we like it, and we take pains not to deviate from it too much. The Lore is guidelines and rules for how you play a specific character type/race. Does that mean we need to adhere to them religiously? No, but we do need to stick close to it.

It says that surface elves are taken pretty much straight to the alter. Now, I think we can stick close to this, without perfect adherence, because wanting to make them suffer as much as possible is something I'm totally down with. However. Mundane household chores suffering does not make.... If you're going to keep one I would expect to see it being pretty much constantly tortured.

And let's get creative here, we've got several thousand years to play with our elven captives! For instance.... suppose we skin one alive, and keep it alive with divine magic.. but the torment doesn't end there.... we then take skin donations from the Jaluks, and graft their skin onto the elf..... the Elves can't stand the Drow, they hate them above just about all else, and now one of them is going to wear the skin of several drow for thousands of years, the mental torment alone would be terrible. And don't stop there! Now it looks like a drow! Think about what we can do with that!

So now we have a surface elf, we've grafted drow skin onto it, let's cut it's vocal cords, so now it can't speak.. and release it into a nearby community of... oh... say.... humans! Humans are such fun little creatures! They'll scream "DROW!" and flee and scream and run in terror, throw rocks at it, and generally try to kill it! It'll either be driven out, or killed, and if it's driven out, well... we'll be there waiting for it, and it'll know that now there's no place it can run to, it's ours Forever!

so my advice? Keep it, but be really creative in torturing it openly and publicly!

In the UnderDark your ranking is everything.

A female drow who is not a priestess or a high ranking member of a respectable faction doesn't get much authority or respect.
The same can be said for any property that particular female owns. In this case it's a rothe.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drow A is a female fighter
Slave A belongs to Drow A and is a female moon elf.
Drow B is a Priestess of Lolth

Drow A brings Slave B with her into the main encampment.

Drow B, noticing Slave A in tow, halts Drow A.

Slave A now receives it's thin chance to slide under the radar of the Yath (( for now)) if it's owner has taken the time to teach it the critical details of drow lore.

Drow B, not happy with what she sees, is now angry. She decides that the only way for Lolth to be satisfied this cycle is to feed the nasty thing to the spiders as an offering.

Drow A, provided she is a Lolthite and does not outrank Drow B, should not argue. In fact Drow A should be favorable to the idea.
Providing Sacrifice to Lolth is the cornerstone of their culture.

Instead Drow A chooses to argue with Drow B in order to protect the rothe.
Drow B, given her current rank in their culture, has the authority to not only drag Slave A off and brutally sacrafice them.
Drow B has been given a reason to berate and slander Drow A for their weakness.
Drow B uses her rank to destroy any reputation Drow A once held, effectively revoking any power Drow A held in the under dark.

Drow A, not happy with what she sees, is now angry. She decides that the only way for Lolth to be satisfied this cycle is to feed the nasty thing to the spiders as an offering.

Drow A, provided she is a Lolthite and does not outrank Drow B, should not advise Drow B on how to handle her assets. In fact Drow A should be favorable to the idea of avoiding the wrath of Drow B.
Yath are the highest ranking members in their culture.

Instead Drow A chooses to argue with Drow B in order to see Slave A be killed.
Drow B, given her current rank in their culture, has the authority to tell Drow A to get stuffed.
Drow A is not a priestess of Lolth and can not presume to know her will. Drow B has been given a reason to berate and slander Drow A for their foolishness.

Drow B uses her rank to humiliate Drow A.

Drow A must seek other paths of retribution for the embarrassment at this point.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drow A, Drow B, Slave A & Slave B are in no way related to any characters or players.
They are just made up, any relation is completely coincidental.

Elaboration is simple...I will use an Analogy. Our Underdark is like the United States political system and constitution in that whoever is in power interprets it to their liking until they are removed from power then the lore changes to suit the next person in charge.

I've ICly handled the matter regarding the slave in question by now, anyhows. But I think it's still a useful discussion to provide information and opinions and other peoples' views to those who would in the future capture an elf.
