A recent attack and subsequent activity around the HoR

Last evening, news spreads through the Dales that a band of Drow teamed up with strange and more ferocious orc breeds again attacked the House of Redemption in the middle of one of their impromptu social gatherings.  Ranya, Arila, Melorion, Elektra and Crypto we assailed from the woods behind and just north of the keep from an old path that hasn't seen travel for many years.



The party took some casualties but were victorious from the raid and went inside to heal up, when it was found that somehow intruders got past the front door guard and were awaiting in ambush inside.  One of the guests as well as the performers of the fest hall were beaten and bound when Crypto found them and dispatched the perpetrators... a Drow Master Assassin and a Drow Arch Sorcerer.  None of the dead could be raised for interogation... perhaps Lathander or Lloth refused such magics... we'll never know.



The party gathered their calm and searched the bodies, finding a Llothite cloak among the dead.  Crypto and Melorion talked long hours about the nature of such drow and eventually festivities brewed up again as the House recovers from such frequent attacks rather quickly.  They seem to be becoming the norm... orcs, drow, beastmen... and the foul men and women who are in league with them.



Activity around the House is now bustling.  More guards are stationed on the Veranda and the roof.  There is even a burly man often up there with a large rock in hand and a pile of more rocks next to him ready to bombard any would be hostiles.

Barracades are set up on the road both to the East and to the West of the House with just enough room for travellers and visitors to get through two at a time side by side.  Often a large bonfire of the dead fallen enemies burns behind the keep into the night as the raids are almost of weekly occurence.

House of Redemption staff and members gather food stocks just to be prepared for the worst.  The front door is now barred and visitors have to speak to the outside guard on the veranda to be let in by the inside guard.  The gardeners and druids try to heal the land surrounding the keep of it's scars of war... but it's becoming a never-ending toil.

* For the few body's that were forgotten or over looked, simply go missing. Dragged away, and into the earth by both tree, and plant roots. The few that have seen Ravossel do this can easily assume this was her doing, but given that the body's were eather forgotten, or over looked. Would any one really know what happened to them in the first place?*

*When the ashes of the funeral bone fire have chilled, a strong gust of wind whips about The House of Redemption. (Gust of wind spell) Dispersing the ashes into the surrounding land scape. Were the funeral bone fire was, Ravossel scatters whiled flower, and grass seeds upon the burnt ashen ground. Using a mix of rain, and well water Ravossel waters the seed, that now lay upon the burnt ashen soil, using some of her Druidic powers Ravossel try's to give the seeds a jump start. What would normally take a week or two, should now only take a few days for the seeds that lay upon the burnt ashen soil.*

*After all this is dun, Ravossel heads out deeper into the woods/swamp that's be hind the house of redemption. In search of the dreaded assassin's vine. (If there in this sever)

After the fighting had ceased , the clatter of high heels is heard in the front room of the house ... Elektra walks in and hears the tale of Drow attacks, fallen comrades, and terror in the Fest Hall...
" Great Shiney sheet o Shar !"
, she exclaims , " I go shoe shopping for just ONE afternoon and LOOK at what happens !"
She throws her hands on her hips and glares at the mess .

In light of recent changes to House security, Roman had temporarily ordered the front door guards to not allow Ravossel inside the keep, but this has since been straightened out and she is again allowed access. Roman seeks words with both Elektra and Ravossel about this pressing matter.

Front and roof gaurds are informed by Headmaster that Aerandir and Kendra are not to be allowed within the barracades.  Use of force is allowed if all other measures fail.


He then immediately works with the magicians and clerics of the house to inform them of a special spell he has learned by name which allows one to tell if a person is infected.

Hello Crypto, I've checked a few of the house members for the worm infection. With the sense life spell, this spell Lurue has grant me the use of until this crises is over.

Crytpo has put in time to learn the sense life spell (dm approved) from Gerard, and requests Ravossel stay near the House when she is able to help check those that come and go. Crytpo spends most of his time in the front bar of the House catching up with travellers to get news from the nearby lands. He also works with the house archanists to teach them the spell that detects infection so that he and Rav can have some relief. He has also requested those that know the spell 'dismissal' at least one memorized at all times to cast upon anyone that shows signs of the infection. He has put the House archanists to task to start scribing this scroll to give to those who can cast it to help make folks better prepared. He makes it common knowledge that such is available to those seeking to combat the blight.

Elektra sits at a table near the bar, rasping her nails down smooth , using a diamond dust encrusted Beastmen horn. She spreads her hand out to inspect her work and says ," Rumors are that at least half of Shadowdale may fall victim to this worm thing...", she then pulls her hand back and begins smoothing again.
" Do you think those folks could use help ? ... Maybe defending themselves against bandits, goblins and gnolls.... Or ... Do ya think they would rather die a terrible death from head worms... than to accept help from the likes of us?"
She then raises a foot up on the chair and starts shaping toenails.

*Crypto instructs the House guards of new security measures given recent events.  In addition to folks needing to check in with the outside guard to get the inside guard to un-bar the door for all non-member entry into the House, he hands them all a memorandum...*

Everyone not wearing a House of Redemption signet is to remove their mask upon stepping on the veranda.  If they do not after fair warning, they must leave immediately or be fired upon.  IF they happen to be of full blooded drow decent, they are to be brought down by whatever means necessary... bound, gagged, preferably drugged as well and tossed into our dungeon.  Headmistress, Blackhorse, or I should be notified immediately upon any such event.  Any questions can be directed to Headmaster or Headmistress.

*Crypto proceeds to set up road markers on the newly forming east and west fortifications on the road that passes through Misty falls*

"ALL Drow are forbidden to enter these lands or get anywhere near the House of Redemption Keep... turn back now or face the consequences."

*Crypto then proceeds to get himself a brandy and sit on his balcony and watch as the laborers work on the new fortifications.*
