- Server Lore: The Fort on the North Ride
Some of you guys know I read a lot of threads on the forum. And some of you know that I read a lot of threads on the forum (I read all the Ask a DM threads, and pages 28 to 10 of the OOC General forum).
Some people call it "the refugee fort", but no one could ever tell both my characters what it was about, and both my characters saw many people comment on the fort while walking close to it, asking why it was there and who owned it. Not to mention the threads on the forum asking that same question, and if it was possible to somewhat own the fort.
...
Therefore, here I present you with the sudden revelation of what the fort is all about:
- The fort was DM Greenboy's idea, and it was first constructed in November 2011 - DM Greenboy's idea was to make a neutral area that would change according to the players' actions. DM Greenboy would improve upon the fort or the NPCs according to what was done - The people of the fort were from an unnamed village in the south, who fled their village because of attacks from the drow - The NPCs at the fort (and DM Greenboy) wanted the fort to remain a neutral place, not to be influenced by any side of the war. A centre of trade - They built the fort with wooden palisades - Shortly after, they were attacked by orcs. After that, they often withstood attacks from both the drow and orcs - Many players helped with the fort, including (but not limited to): Taeron, Attis, Lanius, Valtore, Garok, Hector (Hector Waynard?), Richo, Ka, Justin McGregor, Sordoc, Alfie and Adela ... - At one point, Lanius was appointed second-in-command when the NPC Commander wasn't there - The whole project lasted from the beginning of November to mid-December. I don't know what made DM Greenboy stop.
That info was taken there: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Quote :
- I guess it disappeared because lack of player-side interest and support? Plus Greenboy's no longer a DM so it sort of just killed all the RP he'd created I guess.

- Yeah, I thought so too, but Greenboy is no longer a DM since May 2012 -- he stopped taking care of the fort in December 2011 -- and there seemed to be a lot of player interest, so I don't know what could have made him stop.
I haven't read threads past November 2011 yet, so I might know more eventually.
Also, perhaps the death of Lanius had something to do about that, but I don't know when he died. - Quote :
- Greenboy ... stopped before Lanius died .... The Dwarves built the Walls around the Fort ....
If the information that I posted above is accurate, I would request from the DMs the permission to post that in the Lore sub-forum. Note that when I wrote: "Not to mention the threads on the forum asking that same question, and if it was possible to somewhat own the fort", I meant that a lot of people had asked if they could take over the fort for themselves, and such requests were refused, understandably. This is not a post to try to revive interest in the fort. I simply believe it's a part of the server's history that should be remembered (since the building is still standing and now there are guards inside), but the storyline has been abandoned so long ago that I don't believe it should be revisited.
