Caravan Attacked: Crossroads and Daggerhills

The northern blonde listens to Maura with a patient nod.
" strategy is not about respect, other than who wins. But I understand what you are saying . "
She smiles to both Maura and Kalthanar.
"Ok , fine , Kal is the best warrior here."
She smiles again.
" Everything I have said still remains as true. So lets move on to the task at hand. Kal volunteers for the most dangerous assignment, well then , So be it, then. And what would be the next part that needs protection?"
She then looks to this newcomer."
" hello ... You are ... Hope? Is that name something your parents had... Or something you are offering to us?".

Hope slowly cocks her head and seems amused by the question, her eyes flashing a redish gold for a moment. "It is the name I give to strangers. I heard this area has been having some undead problems, I hope to find those I can hire myself out too, so, would you happen to be able to point me in the right direction?"

Natyala looked back, then forth, then back again as they argued. She shifted uncomfortably and crawled up on her caravan to gain some much needed space.

"Well it's not worth arguing about it. I just want to know who is taking first shift is all..." She rubbed the back of her neck uneasily. "Not like I'm the only caravan rider in the dales. ..'sides. Can't some of you go off looking for, I dunno. Traps and such? Another can stay here with me."

As Elektra would have been talking poorly at Kalthanar she may have notice Mineva developing a glower in the blonde's direction. The Calishite woman's stance changing as well, raising on her toes. However, hearing Maura's words the half-elf slowly settles and looks to Hope as she approaches. You may have better luck asking one of the guards in town.

She quieted as Natyala piped up. Traps I can scout ahead for. Kal will stay by ya and I'll creep ahead'a y'two. I can work multiple shift anyway.. I... don't really sleep often. Awake for three days now as it is. She wore a smile at first but as she spoke the last she frowned but shrugged it off in her usual fashion.

*Traveling around on one of his mining trips, Storm would see the crowd. Grabbing his attention, he heads towards them. He sits nearby listening to the words being said as he brings out some food as he makes a short meal. He would watch Kal with a grin, chewing his meal slowly. It is obvious he is just going to listen unless something happens.*

Lightly walking down the road, even if with a somewhat inhuman speed, comes a white robed figure, hood pulled up, and a white mask, with orange markings, covering the face. Still some time away, though likely to be within range within a minute or two, not that the person seems in a hurry or anything.

OOC: Due to not having any way of fairly knowing what wards people had active as no one declaired having true sight up and it seeming no dm or adm is free to ref this I am voiding the attack and deleting the posts ic and ooc that are in regards to them. I ask that in the future if anyone plans on attacking via forum rp. they send a pm request to the dm in the thread, listing the attacks spells, class ability being used ect. And wait for the dms go ahead first, so dm can see who has what wards up ect ect.

((You had to do this while I was moving. So, I've thought about it and here is my call.

1. Spells and wards that your character can cast are permitted. But! You must be able to show your work. Any spell or ward cast must have an OOC mention. ex. Kal's enchanted eyesight scans the darkness (true seeing.)

2. Please remember, we are missing the visual ques that we would normally take for granted in the game. Because of this, communication between players is key and paramount to the thread. Be descriptive!

3. No actions are guaranteed. Please phrase attacks and actions in the precursor. [i]Casting magic missile, not cast magic missile.

Natyala was growing tired of the argument. Her feet shuffled on the wagon and the tall grass stem rolled from one corner of her mouth to the other. "really you lot. You can all help. It's a long drive, being around the entire time will bore you to tears. Less you really like looking at an oxen's ass." She laughed at her own joke.

Whatever presence there might have been perceived at some point it is now long gone...

Maura sighs and places a hand on Kalthanar's shoulder before pulling away and taking her place at the left of the caravan, adjacent to the driver's bench. Her expression is pensive and her tone serious. "Mineva, you already know what to do. Kalthanar and I can see better at night, so I think we should take the night shifts. You have better ears than me, love. Do you want the front or the rear guard?" She asks, glancing back at Kal over her shoulder. She then turns her eyes to Natyala offering her a kind smile before donning her winged helm and drawing her flaming silver greatsword. Before even waiting for the tiefling's answer, Maura would begin casting various wards, chanting them out in Celestial. (( With DM approval. ))

(( CL 21 (4 fighter/17 cleric), 20 WIS, 14 CHA. Greater Magic Weapon, Magic Vestment, Chasing Perfection*, Ghostly Visage*, Mass Death Ward*, and Prot. from Alignment: Evil.

*shrugs* My eyes work good enough during the Dale and i'll be best here with the wagon to keep it safe and aid you all should we face an attack, Chants a bit and looks round the group. Min is the best scout I know..Kal and Maura definitely are familiar enough with each other to team up at night..Elektra can also stick close to the wagon to help with her spells.

Base Dip is 34..+6 Mod from CHA....and that maybe a bit low on te estimate

P.S. Ranya buffs all attributes, except Con, of party members nearby by +6..and also inspires regen +3

A smile came across her face and she lurked by Maura a moment to take advantage of any wards that extend to others. While the spell casting went on she'd confirm the route with Natyala and then once that was confirmed and the redhead was done casting she'd move into the trees ahead on the intended route. Likely slipping out of view of her companions.

She sits in the Caravan, soundly asleep, well half asleep. Tired. She makes no attempts to move or intervene with the outside arguments.

Natyala checked her caravan, her things, and her one snoozing passenger. She then dusted herself off and shook the reigns. "All aboard whose going aboard. I'm not going to be late because of some deaders." She gave them a minute or two to situation themselves and cracks the reigns.

Natyala moved fast, which might make scouting ahead or behind her difficult. She had no care for what danger lay ahead or behind her, she only cared that she made it to her first stop on time. The caravan jolted and bumped around as she rode roughly to make up lost time.

"Sorry!" She said once or twice when they hit an especially deep pothole.

In the distance, a dark cloud hung low, and they were driving right to it.

*Storm would attempt to wave to Mineva before she vanished the way she usually seems to around him. He would also wave to Maura and Kal as he is packing up his small meal. Unless they would stop him for a few words before going on their way, he would start off down the road to the next mining node, casting a glance occasionally at where Mineva was before she melded away.*

Maura sat next to Natyala and clung onto the side of the bench as the wagon raced. With her right hand, she held her sword point-down between her legs. She had spent her teenage years doing stuff like this while training and learning from her mentor. A faint smile was present on her lips as a sense of nostalgia washed over her briefly. Upon seeing the dark cloud in the distance though, her smile faded. "Natyala, don't stop for anything!" In a fast motion, she leans her sword against her shoulder to free her hands and immediately begins to cast a spell (Etherealness).

Strange enough, the person in white robes and mask is still within a certain distance of the wagon, keeping up somehow.

*Hearing Maura's voice raise , he turned his attention towards the front looking at the dark cloud. He got up into the back of the caravan to check on the sleeping passenger, nudging them *

" It's going to get rough, you should wake up , not sure what's about to happen but sleeping definitely won't help you "

Upon cessation of her prayer and the ritualistic hand gestures that accompanied it, the wagon, horses, and all passengers would seem to disappear to the naked eye. They were in the ethereal plane now. It would seem they were in the same place, but all colors seem muted and fuzzy, blending into each other.

(( Etherealness is essentially Mass Ethereal. Affects one extra person per 3 caster levels in 10 foot radius from caster. ))

In the back of the Caravan, a wicked grin crosses her face, she begins to makes the correct hand gestures. Calling forth the darkness from within soul, the hooded woman, starts to invoke the Spell, Etheralness, to stop the other from casting the spell of Similar proportion, but the Hooded woman is intent on casting the Spell on Herself, and the Caravan alone, and no others.
