A band of adventurers found the body of a human ranger at the borders of the Cormanthor a few days ago. The body was reported to have been mangled by some manner of beast but the locals nor the adventurers could make sense of it otherwise.
The next day, several bodies of humans aged between adolescent to adult were retrieved out of the river by local fisherman. The wounds suggested they were stabbed and dumped into the waters to be carried downstream toward Shadowdale.
The day after, a ranch just east of the Morning Farms was found burned to the ground, its inhabitants seeming to have been dragged out of their home and killed execution style before the entire place was set fire. Nailed onto one of the support beams standing amongst the ashes and debris by a dagger is a parchment written in blood as a warning.
"The vermin that infest these lands will no longer be tolerated.
They encroach upon our lands, cut down our forests, and take everything that is ours.
Leave these lands, humans. You have been warned."
